A case of irregular parking in Ponta Grossa ended with a driver being prevented from taking over the direction of a truck on Tuesday afternoon. The incident was recorded at around 16:45, in Sant’Ana Street, central region of the city, after the vehicle occupied a lane of circulation during an unloading operation and impaired traffic, especially the passage of buses of public transport.

According to information from the Traffic and Road Safety Superintendent, a team from the Patrulhamento Viário Group was activated by the central to verify the situation. The complaint pointed out that a truck was carrying out an unloading operation on a stretch with signs prohibiting parking.

Upon arriving at the address, officers found that the vehicle was parked irregularly, obstructing the right lane and making it difficult for other vehicles to move.

Cameras identify alcohol consumption

During the attendance of the occurrence, the monitoring center also identified, through the images of the security cameras, that the driver of the truck and other people involved in the loading and unloading operation were consuming alcoholic beverages.

The information was immediately passed on to the traffic officers who were moving to the site.

In the face of the situation, the team carried out the inspection procedures and produced an infringement order for irregular parking.

In addition to the carriage, the driver who had been identified consuming alcohol was prevented from taking over the truck.

The truck was stopped until another driver arrived.

As a safety measure, the officers determined the retention of the vehicle until another duly qualified driver was presented and in a position to take over the steering.

The driver presented to remove the truck was subjected to the test of the ethylometer, known as breathalyzer, which showed a result of 0.00 mg/L of alcohol per liter of alveolar air.

After the administrative procedures and the confirmation that the new driver was able to drive, the truck was released.

It was not reported if the driver initially identified consuming alcoholic beverages was ever submitted to the breathalyzer test.

Irregular parking impaired traffic in the Center

The incident drew attention to the disturbances caused in Rua Sant’Ana, one of the roads in the central region of Ponta Grossa.

According to the information passed on by the police, the obstruction of the right-hand lane mainly affected the circulation of public transport buses, which needed to share the available space with the other vehicles.

The action of the Superintendence of Traffic and Road Safety resulted in the carriage for irregular parking and the adoption of measures to prevent the driver identified consuming alcoholic beverages from taking over the direction of the truck.
