A drunk driver in Ponta Grossa was arrested early Friday after advancing four consecutive red lights while driving a white Chevrolet S10 pickup truck down Balduino Taques Street in the city’s central region. The approach was carried out by agents of the Superintendence of Traffic and Road Safety, around 2:54.

According to the report of the occurrence, a team of the Group of Patrulhamento Viário was carrying out surveillance activities when it noticed that the driver of the truck was disrespecting the traffic signals at four successive crossings, putting at risk the safety of himself and other road users.

Faced with the situation, the agents determined the stop of the vehicle. The driver obeyed the order and was identified as a 35-year-old man.

Breathalyzer test pointed to drunkenness

During the approach, the team found that the driver had apparent signs of drunkenness, including red eyes, ethyl breath, sleepiness, and uncluttered clothing.

The man underwent the ethylometer test, known as breathalyzer, which recorded 0.64 milligrams of alcohol per liter of expired alveolar air (mg/L).

The result exceeds the limit used to characterize traffic crime by alcohol concentration, provided for in article 306 of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB).

In addition, when consulting the computerized systems, the agents found that the driver did not have a National License (CNH), and was therefore unable to drive vehicles.

The truck had a court blockade and debts.

The investigation also identified irregularities in the Chevrolet S10. According to the record of the occurrence, the vehicle presented judicial blockade and outstanding debts.

In the face of the infractions found, the truck was seized and the administrative procedures provided for in the traffic legislation were adopted.

The driver received a voice of arrest and was referred to the 4th Regional Flagrants Centre of Ponta Grossa, where he was made available to the police authority.

After being heard by the delegate, bail in the amount of R$ 3,200 was arbitrated. The report does not indicate whether the amount was paid or whether the driver remained detained.

The incident was attended by agents Kosteski and Ramos, of the Quebec team, linked to the Superintendence of Traffic and Road Safety.
