Elizabeth says PG needs Julio Kuller in the Assembly

The mayor of Ponta Grossa, Elizabeth Schmidt, said today that the dispute for a state deputy highlighted a political division in the city. On the one hand, according to her, is Julio Kuller, the only candidate who counts on his support and that of Sergio Moro. On the other hand, there are the candidacies linked to the municipal opposition. “To vote for Julio Kuller for state deputy is to vote for Ponta Grossa. We need those who fight for the city and not with the city,” he says.

For Elizabeth, the lack of articulation of the current representatives in the Assembly has undermined the defense of the demands of Ponta Grossa in recent years. The mayor argues that the municipality received less state investments than other cities of the Paraná and says that the Assembly needs to act with more force in the collection of resources. “We were harmed. We are a power in the state economy and, even so, we receive five times less resources than Maringá, three times less than Cascavel and twice less than Guarapuava,” he says.

Among the priorities cited by her are the promised resources for the paving of neighborhoods and villages. Elizabeth claims that the City Hall has maintained the works with its own resources and funding while awaiting the release of state funds announced for the city. “We alone invested more than R$ 700 million in paving. We need the resources of the state to meet the neighborhoods that are missing,” he stresses.

The mayor also stressed that Ponta Grossa has enough voters to elect more state deputies. In its evaluation, expanding representation will be important, but the ability to work for the demands of the municipality should guide the choice of voters. Elizabeth relates her support for Kuller to his role as president of Câmara Municipal. According to the mayor, the Legislative Council collaborated with projects of the administration and underwent a process of modernization during its management. She says this partnership was part of the cycle of changes conducted by the City Hall.

The mayor also believes that a possible victory of Sergio Moro for the government already in the first round would allow to start earlier the articulation for the next government. In this scenario, she says having Kuller in the Assembly would help address issues such as paving and releasing resources for Ponta Grossa from the beginning of the mandate. “Julio is the only candidate who has my support and the support of Sergio Moro for state deputy in the Campos Gerais. We cannot miss this opportunity to have a strong representative in the Assembly,” he concludes.
