Fire takes over truck cab and mobilizes firefighters in Ponta Grossa
Truck fire in Ponta Grossa damaged the cab and engine on Pedro Wosgrau Avenue. The driver exited in time and no one was injured.
A truck fire in Ponta Grossa mobilized emergency teams and caused the partial interdiction of Avenida Pedro Wosgrau on Wednesday night. The fire started when the vehicle was traveling in the direction of Cara-Cara/Uvaranas and mainly hit the cabin and the engine compartment. No one was hurt.
The incident was recorded around 18:45. According to information from the patrulhamento viário team, the truck, of plates MGP5I97, followed by Avenida Pedro Wosgrau when it presented a fire principle.
The flames quickly spread across the cabin and engine area, forcing the driver to stop the vehicle.
Driver tried to fight the flames
The driver, identified by the initials V.F., managed to leave the truck before the fire took greater proportions. He even tried to control the fire using the vehicle's own extinguisher, but was unable to contain the flames.
Despite the intensity of the fire, there was no record of casualties. The damage was concentrated on the truck, especially in the cockpit and engine area.
The occurrence generated a large amount of smoke in the Avenida Pedro Wosgrau, which required additional care with traffic in the region.
Avenue was partially banned.
Due to the truck fire in Ponta Grossa, part of Avenida Pedro Wosgrau had to be temporarily banned during service.
A team from the Fire Department was fired and carried out the fight against the flames. After the fire control, patrulhamento viário agents remained on site to organize the circulation of vehicles.
According to the report of the occurrence, the system of follow and stop was deployed to allow the drivers to pass safely while the truck remained on the track.
The team also prepared the bulletin of occurrence on site.
The truck was taken out by the insurer.
After the extinguishing of the flames and the release of the safety conditions on the stretch, the insurer responsible for the vehicle was awaited to remove the truck.
Traffic was partially compromised during the care, but there was no record of injuries. The circumstances that caused the beginning of the fire in the truck were not detailed in the initial report of the occurrence.
