Flávio Bolsonaro denies authorizing Zé Trovão

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) stated, during his weekly live, that he did not authorize the judicial action brought by federal deputy Zé Trovão (PL-SC) against the readjustment of Bolsa Família. The statement was made on Thursday, amid controversy over the increase in the benefit announced by the federal government just days before the first round of elections.

According to Flávio, the deputy acted on his own by triggering the Justice to suspend the readjustment. "I want to say that there was a member who acted on the justice to take this readjustment. It wasn't with my permission. I don't agree with that. He should not have entered [with the action], but entered on his own. It was not me who asked him to do that,” the senator said.

Re-adjustment of the Bolsa Família generates political dispute

With 17 days left for the first round, the Lula government increased the benefit by about 15.04%, raising the floor from R$ 600 to R$ 691. The average value, when added to the other benefits included in the program, will increase from R$ 675 to R$ 777. Payments are scheduled for October 19, while the first round will take place on October 4 and the second round, if it occurs, will take place on October 25.

The measure has generated reaction from political opponents, who question the timing of the announcement in the middle of the election campaign. The Minister André Mendonça, rapporteur of the case in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), extinguished, without analysis of the merits, the representation moved by Zé Trovão.
