Health Department Completes Restorative Practice Course in Ponta Grossa
The Municipality of Ponta Grossa, through the Municipal Health Secretariat, certified 22 professionals who completed the Restorative Practices Course, taught by Instituto MM. The 40-hour training aimed to improve service delivery and strengthen interpersonal relationships within health teams.

The Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Municipal Health Secretariat, carried out on Thursday (3) the certification of 22 health professionals who participated in the Course for Restorative Practices. The award of the certificates took place at an event that was attended by prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt and representatives of the MM Institute, responsible for administering the activities. The initiative aimed to further qualify the teams that act directly in the population care.
Among the certified professionals are servers working in Health Units and in the Central Pharmacy, in addition to representatives of management teams, ombudsman, human resources and the School of Health. The diversity of sectors reflects the scope of the training, which sought to integrate different areas of the municipal health system. The source did not detail the selection criteria of the participants.
Training focused on coexistence and care
The course, lasting 40 hours, had as its central proposal the strengthening of interpersonal relationships within the Health teams. During the activities, the agents and servers received practical tools for communication, empathy and management of difficult situations. The methodology applied by the MM Institute aimed to support professionals in building more collaborative environments, reducing day-to-day tensions and promoting transformation in working relationships.
The Municipal Secretary of Health, Liliam Brandalise, highlighted the expected impact of the training. “It is a training aimed at improving coexistence, qualifying the care and strengthening the joint action of the teams. We are very happy with the participation of everyone, the exchange of experiences between professionals and how much this will collaborate with the work environment and the daily care”, he stressed. The manager also mentioned the continuous support of the MM Institute in the monitoring of the teams and the intention to expand the partnership for new courses and qualifications.
Restorative practices in public service
Restorative practices are approaches that seek to resolve conflicts and strengthen bonds through dialogue and collective accountability. In the context of public health, they can contribute to reducing occupational stress, improve communication among colleagues and, consequently, reflect on the quality of citizen care. Although the source has not detailed the specific modules of the course, the emphasis on practical tools suggests a direct application in the daily life of the units.
The participation of ombudsmen and human resources professionals indicates an interest in disseminating the restorative culture also in the internal processes of people management and in the reception of demands of the population. The School of Health, in turn, can act as a multiplier of this knowledge in future capacities. The source did not say if there will be new classes or deadlines for expansion.
Partnership with Instituto MM and next steps
The MM Institute, which ministered the activities, is an organization with activities in social and educational projects. The partnership with Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, as highlighted by the secretary Liliam Brandalise, includes not only the course itself, but also a follow-up of the teams after the training. “In addition to the course itself, we have a very great support from the MM Institute in the monitoring of the teams and, from now on, we are working to expand this partnership and bring even more courses and qualifications to those who serve the community on a daily basis,” he said.
The certification of the 22 professionals represents an initial step in the consolidation of restorative practices in municipal health. The expectation, according to the statements, is that participants act as agents of change in their workplaces, promoting a more welcoming and efficient environment. The source did not detail dates or formats for the next steps of the partnership.
For residents of Ponta Grossa, training can translate into more humanized care and more cohesive teams, which tends to reduce conflicts and improve the resolubility of services. The Boca no Trombone Portal will continue to follow the developments of this initiative and other actions of the Municipal Health Secretariat.
