Jocelito Canto promises focus on health in Brasília and reinforces support to Moro

The candidate for federal deputy Jocelito Canto (PP) stated that he intends to concentrate his work in Brasilia mainly in the areas of health, sport and social assistance, if he is elected in the elections of 2026. During an interview with BnT Online, the former mayor of Ponta Grossa and former state deputy also defended greater representativeness of Campos Gerais in Congress and reinforced his support for Sergio Moro (PL) in the dispute for the Government of Paraná.

Jocelito said he decided to return to the contest for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies after the 2022 election episode, when he failed to take office. According to him, the absence of a representative directly linked to Ponta Grossa would have hindered the search for investments for the region.

“So that made me come back to be a candidate and to work a lot, especially for health, for the difficult time that we are living,” he said.

Health will be a priority

Speaking about the main flags that he intends to defend in Brasilia, Jocelito highlighted especially public health. The candidate recalled personal experiences of childhood, when, according to him, he needed to spend hours in queues to get medical attention for his mother. For him, similar difficulties are still faced today by patients awaiting consultations and procedures by the public system.

Jocelito also cited his passage through Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa and his mandates as a state deputy to defend that he has experience to seek recursos federais intended for municipalities. During the interview, he attributed to the political performance itself decisive participation in the implementation of the Regional Hospital of Ponta Grossa, current Hospital Universitário Regional of Campos Gerais.

In addition to health, the candidate stated that he intends to invest in projects related to sport, especially initiatives aimed at children and adolescents. “When you help a child to play sports, you make that child healthy. A healthy child is health prevention,” he said.

Representativity of Campos Gerais

Another point defended by Jocelito was the need for Ponta Grossa to expand its representation in Brasilia.

According to him, the economic weight of the city, especially in the industrial, logistics and agribusiness sectors, needs to be accompanied by greater political force in the search for recursos federais.

The candidate also stated that he intends to maintain dialogue with mayors of the Campos Gerais regardless of the political positioning of each manager.

“Even if they don’t support me, because everyone has their own political preference, I respect that. But I will be working for the municipalities, for the Campos Gerais region, for Ponta Grossa,” he said.

Jocelito also said that he wants to have party independence if elected and said that he does not automatically intend to follow directions from governments or parties.

Support for Sergio Moro

During the interview, Jocelito also reinforced his support for Sergio Moro’s candidacy for the Government of Paraná. The candidate explained that he had previously announced support for another name in the state dispute, but that, after changes in the electoral scenario, he decided to walk with Moro.

Jocelito also mentioned previous political disagreements with Sandro Alex as one of the reasons for not supporting the candidate. “We are with Moro. We made some commitments, he made some commitments with us for Ponta Grossa and for Campos Gerais,” he said.

At the end of the interview, Jocelito asked for support from voters and said that he intends to bring to Brasilia the profile of performance that he had in his previous mandates.
