Jury dismisses feminicide and convicts man of privileged homicide in Ponta Grossa

The trial of a privileged homicide in Ponta Grossa ended with the conviction of Dirceu Cristo Ferreira to 11 years in prison. The Jury Court dismissed the femicide qualifier and acknowledged the thesis that the crime occurred under the domain of violent emotion, soon after the unjust provocation of the victim.

The trial took place in the District of Ponta Grossa. According to information passed on by the defense, the theses presented by lawyers Renato Tauille and Piero Mocelim were accepted by the jury, resulting in the conviction for privileged simple murder.

With the decision, the femicide qualifier who was part of the charge brought to trial was removed.

The defense assessed the result as fair. The lawyers also estimate that Dirceu could be released again within approximately 30 days, considering the period in which he has already remained in pre-trial detention and the penalties applicable to the execution of the sentence.

The provision of release was presented by the defense and will depend on the procedures and calculations relating to the execution of the sentence.

Crime happened in 2024 in Boa Vista

The case judged by the Jury Court took place in the early morning of September 22, 2024, in the Rua Padre Amadeu Fracaro, in the Boa Vista neighborhood, in Ponta Grossa.

At the time, a woman was hit by a knife in the chest during an argument inside the property where the family was.

Two children of the couple, who were 12 and 14 at the time, witnessed the discussion and left the place to seek help with neighbors. Residents fired the victim's eldest son.

Dirceu ended up being contained by people who were nearby. Later, he was located unawakened on public roads by the Municipal Guard and referred for medical attention.

In a statement after the incident, the man said he did not remember what happened.

The defendant has been in prison since the crime.

Dirceu remained in pre-trial detention from the time of the events until the trial.

After the case was examined by the Jury Court, the jurors removed the femicide qualifier and recognized the privileged homicide. The sentence was 11 years in prison.

Now, according to the lawyers, it will be considered the period that the convict has already remained imprisoned for the calculations related to the fulfillment of the sentence.

The defense believes that, with these abattements, he could leave the prison in approximately 30 days.
