The law also defines speed limits: up to 20 km/h on permitted roads and up to 6 km/h in pedestrian areas that are authorized and marked.

The City of Ortigueira sanctioned the Lei Municipal 1.760/2026, which establishes rules for the use of electric scooters in the municipality.
According to the new legislation, the minimum age to drive is 16 years old, and children under 18 years old can only use the equipment with the authorization of parents or guardians.
The law also defines speed limits: up to 20 km/h on permitted roads and up to 6 km/h in pedestrian areas that are authorized and signposted.
The circulation of electric scooters on sidewalks, roads and roads whose speed limit is greater than 40 km/h is prohibited.
Among the prohibited conducts are driving under the effect of alcohol and using the cell phone during driving.
The City Council also recommends the use of helmets to ensure more safety for drivers.
The municipal administration reinforces the importance of knowing and respecting the new rules, highlighting that traffic safety is the responsibility of everyone: drivers, pedestrians and drivers.
