The Civil Police of Irati concluded on Wednesday (16) the police investigation that investigated a double attempted qualified murder that occurred in the municipality of Inácio Martins. The murder took place on the night of July 25, 2026.
At the time, a 33-year-old man attacked his own brothers, aged 20 and 39, using an agricultural machete. The investigations pointed out that the assaults occurred after an initial physical and verbal disagreement between the youngest victim and a friend of the 22-year-old assailant.
According to the investigation, the initial discussion had already been appeased by relatives and the victims were already preparing to leave by car, when they were surprised by the 33-year-old suspect, who had not participated in the fight until then.
He attacked his younger brother with a blow in the region of the neck, suddenly and from the back. While trying to intervene to protect the youngest, the older brother was hit by multiple machete blows to the back, right armpit and right arm, suffering very serious injuries that required specialized repair surgery in a hospital of high complexity.
The 33-year-old suspect was indicted for two attempts of double-degree murder, with the qualifiers of futile motive and recourse that made it difficult to defend the victims (betrayal). The 22-year-old friend of the assailant was indicted for the criminal contravention of de facto routes, as a result of the initial disagreement with the younger victim.
After the crime, both investigators fled the scene and, so far, are in an uncertain and unknown place (leaved).
It should be noted that the police authority represented the pre-trial arrest of the investigator for the attempted murder, which was referred by the Criminal Court of Irati, but this remains fugitive.
The Civil Police reinforces the request for collaboration of the population with information that helps in the prevention and elucidation of crimes. Complaints can be made anonymously by numbers 197 and 181.
