Man is killed by stab wounds in Castro; suspect is arrested two hours later

A murder in Castro, in the Campos Gerais, ended with the death of Diogo de Lima, 36, in the early hours of Saturday (31). The victim was shot with a white weapon and died at the scene. The suspect was located by the military police about two hours later, confessed to the crime and was arrested.

According to information from the Military Police (PM), the occurrence was recorded around 1 am, when a team was called in to attend a situation involving a man with injuries caused by a knife.

A team of the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) also visited the address, but found that the victim was already dead. Diogo de Lima was 36 years old and left behind a 13-year-old son.

Suspect arrested two hours after murder in Castro

After confirmation of the death, military police began searching to identify and locate the person responsible for the crime.

According to the PM, the suspect was found around 3 a.m., approximately two hours after the first police action.

During the approach, the man confessed to the murder and received a voice of arrest. Then he was referred to the appropriate legal procedures.

The Military Police did not inform, in the report made available, what would have motivated the crime or if there was any previous relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Veil and burial of Diogo de Lima

Diogo de Lima's body is being veiled at the Castro Funeral Home. The burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. this Sunday (1st), in Socavão Cemetery, in the municipality of Castro.
