Michelle sends message to Mendonça: Anointed by the Lord

The former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL), a candidate for the Senate for the Federal District, published a message of support to the Minister André Mendonça of Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), in the midst of the crisis between members of the Court. The post was made on Saturday night (5) and brings a photo in which Mendonça holds the hand of the former first lady. In the text, she recalled the path of the magistrate until the nomination to STF by the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Spiritual Revelation and Confirmation of Indication

Michelle described a moment she described as striking, occurring in a “consecration hall.” According to her, God revealed Mendonça’s entry into the courtroom. “On a very special day, in our consecration room, God revealed to me his entry into that court. Yes, He opened my vision, and I saw Him coming in with a white cloud over His head. It was a beautiful moment!” he wrote.

The former first lady also defended Mendonça and stated that she received a confirmation on the nomination of the minister to STF. “After that day, we were sure that that chair was yours. It could come whatever came, the Word was clear: be strong and courageous. Don't back down! Know that you are a chosen and anointed one of the Lord!”

Mendonça thanks prayers in video

André Mendonça posted a video to allies and religious leaders on Friday (4). In the recording, the minister thanked for the “messages of prayer and affection”. My brothers and sisters, my word is for you essentially to thank you for so many messages of prayer and affection. Be assured that your prayers to God have been fundamental to sustain me and my family,” he said.

The minister of STF said he is receiving messages of support. “I praise God for his life, grateful for the generosity and solidarity I have received. May God bless you and may God bless our country,” the minister added.

Support of Bia Kicis and the crisis context

Mendonça acts as auxiliary pastor in the Presbyterian Church of Pinheiros, in São Paulo. Bia Kicis (PL-DF), a candidate for the Senate, shared the video on Instagram. “We are all united in prayer for our minister, André Mendonça, a man of courage and character. May God protect you, enlighten you and keep you,” she said.

Michelle's gesture occurs at a tense moment on the STF. Documents indicate that the businessman Vorcaro asked the magistrate to act with the director general of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues, and the attorney general of the Republic, Paulo Gonet. The aim would be to contain the advancement of investigations into the bank.

Moraes responds and calls for investigation

On Thursday, Minister Alexandre de Moraes reacted and used the so-called Fake News investigation to accuse Mendonça of crimes. The minister also asked the president of STF, Edson Fachin, to open a lawsuit against the colleague. According to Moraes, the documents point to three main conducts: interference in the conduct of investigations by PF, irregular participation in award-winning collaboration negotiations and targeting for “personal and political reasons”.

On Friday (4), Fachin determined that the investigations on Mendonça, requested by Moraes, should leave the investigation of the Fake News and be included in another procedure under his report. The president of STF brought together in the same process the accusations of both sides. Thus, the autos of the same action also include the decisions of Mendonça against Moraes.

The outcome of the crisis among ministers is still uncertain, but the public support of Michelle Bolsonaro reinforces the political and religious dimension of the clash.
