MPT sues Hang and Havan for R$30 million over electoral harassment
The Labor Public Prosecutor's Office filed a public civil action against Havan and Luciano Hang for electoral harassment, seeking R$30 million in collective moral damages. The lawsuit includes requests for individual compensation and the release of employees on voting days. Hang denies the accusations and claims he is being persecuted for his opinions.
The Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) filed a civil lawsuit against Havana and the owner of the network, businessman Luciano Hang, for electoral harassment. Among other measures, the body asks for compensation of R$ 30 million for collective moral damage and measures before the first round of the 2026 elections, scheduled for October 4.
According to the MPT, on August 29, at the opening of the Caldas Novas (GO) store, Hang spoke against the proposal to end the 6 X 1 scale for employees hired for the unit. In a video replicated on social networks, the businessman said that the project “is nothing more, nothing less than an electoral stelelionate” and that, if it is approved, it will cause employees to “get another job. “Under-employment.”
MPT calls for compensation and urgent measures
For the MPT, it is not a question of restricting freedom of expression or the free expression of the businessman on the subject, but rather of combating electoral harassment in the workplace. In addition to the demand for compensation for collective moral damage in R$ 30 million, the MPT asks the payment of individual moral damages to the affected employees, in an amount not less than 20 times the last salary received.
It also requires the guarantee of the release of employees of Havana on October 4 and 25, without discount on salary. The action, which will be judged by the Labor Court of Goiânia, calls for the prohibition of any new political demonstration in stores and network events and a permanent program of political-electoral neutrality in the company.

Relapse in electoral harassment cases
This is not the first time that Havana and Luciano Hang have responded to electoral harassment. In 2018, the MPT had already sued the company and the owner for another episode linked to the elections that year. At the time, Hang threatened to lay off 15,000 employees if the “left” wins.
The new action reinforces the history of conflicts between the entrepreneur and the labor body. The source did not detail the outcome of the previous process, but the recurrence is cited as aggravating by the MPT.
Hang denies harassment and speaks of persecution
In an official note, Hang said that his speech was about the “freedom to work” and “the importance of working to achieve your goals” and that, in this context, he expressed his opinion about a proposal that is discussed in the country. According to the owner of Havana, “since I publicly demonstrated in 2018, I have been experiencing situations like this. When an entrepreneur positions himself, speaks what he thinks and defends the path he believes is best for Brazil, he starts to be persecuted.”
Hang says he respects the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the justice system, but he also says that it is necessary to respect “who generates employment, invests in the country and believes in Brazil.” “I respect the Public Prosecutor’s Office and I respect justice. But they also need to respect those who generate jobs, invest in the country and believe in Brazil.”
Entrepreneur defends freedom of expression
“Justice cannot be partial and harm those who create jobs in the country,” he said. Hang also denied referring to candidates or parties: “I didn’t talk about candidates. I didn't talk about party. I didn't ask anyone to vote. I have not determined who no one should vote for. I just said what I thought.”
The businessman questioned the characterization of harassment: “I cannot give up my freedom of expression. Much less accept that an opinion is transformed into electoral harassment. After all, do we live in a democracy or does it only apply when we agree with what is said?”
The lawsuit is still pending in the Labor Court of Goiânia. The Boca no Trombone portal will follow the unfolding of the case.
