The month of November 2026 is expected to be marked by above-average rainfall and frequent changes in temperatures at Ponta Grossa, Campos Gerais and throughout Paraná. The forecast is from the Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System (Simepar), which points to the influence of the El Niño phenomenon as one of the main factors responsible for the increase in rainfall in the State.

Despite the expectation of high rain volumes, this does not mean that November will be a constantly closed time month. According to meteorologists, the trend is to alternate between days of sun and heat, periods of stability and episodes of instability, which may cause expressive rains and storms.

The West, Southwest and South-Central regions of Paraná are expected to record the highest precipitation volumes compared to their respective historical averages.

Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais will have changes in time

For residents of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais, November is also expected to show variations in weather conditions, with periods of high temperatures interspersed with colder, rainier days.

Historically, the volume of rainfall recorded in November in the range that includes Ponta Grossa ranges from 100 to 125 millimeters. However, the Simepar forecast indicates that the accumulated ones may exceed these values in 2026.

In terms of temperatures, the Campos Gerais have a historical average between 18°C and 20°C during November. Minimum temperatures usually range between 14°C and 16°C, while average maximums are between 26°C and 28°C.

This year, the expectation is that the frequent passage of cold fronts will cause temporary falls in the thermometers, even with the approach of summer.

El Niño increases possibility of heavy rainfall

According to Simepar, the El Niño phenomenon continues to influence the behavior of the atmosphere and favoring conditions for the formation of instability in the Southern Region of Brazil.

Meteorologist Bianca de Angelo explains that different weather systems should contribute to the occurrence of rainfall throughout the month.

“The occurrence of precipitation will be mainly related to the passage of cold fronts, the action of low pressure systems and the formation of areas of instability. In addition, the transport of heat and humidity towards the Southern Region contributes to intensify the favorable conditions for the development of storms”, he says.

This combination of factors can result in more voluminous rain even after periods of dry weather and elevated temperatures.

Therefore, the guidance is to keep up with weather updates, especially during the formation of storms.

November will be hotter in temperatures

In addition to rainfall, another feature expected in November is the oscillation of temperatures.

Although the proximity of summer favors warmer days, the advance of cold air masses could cause significant drops in the thermometers in different regions of the Paraná.

According to Bianca de Angelo, the trend is for average temperatures to be slightly below the historical values for the month.

“With the approach of summer, the natural tendency is to gradually raise temperatures, favoring the occurrence of warmer days. “However, this does not mean that the heat will be predominant throughout the entire period,” he explains.

The meteorologist adds that the passage of cold fronts will be decisive for these changes.

"Frequent passage of cold fronts will cause temporary drops in temperatures, due to the advance of colder air masses on the Paraná. In those occasions, values will be recorded below the historical average for the period,” he details.

The presence of clouds and the occurrence of rains should also limit the warming during the day, contributing to milder afternoons in certain periods.

Simepar's historical records show important differences between the regions of Paraná during November.

On the coast, the Antonina region has the highest average accumulated rainfall, between 200 and 225 millimeters. The areas near Cerro Azul and Rio Negro have the lowest volumes, between 75 and 100 millimeters.

In the southwest and nearby Apucarana, historical cumulative amounts range from 175 to 200 millimeters. In the west and in areas that extend to Londrina and Guarapuava, the volumes are between 150 and 175 millimeters.

In relation to temperatures, the coldest regions historically are Curitiba, General Carneiro and Palmas, where the monthly averages vary between 16°C and 18°C.

On the other hand, the extreme west, the northwest and the region of Cornélio Procópio have higher average temperatures, between 24°C and 26°C.

The highest average maximum temperatures occur in the extreme West and Northwest, where the thermometers usually exceed 30°C.

Forecasting requires attention to rapid changes in time

With the forecast of above-average rainfall and temperature oscillations, November may present rapid changes in weather conditions in Ponta Grossa and other municipalities of Campos Gerais.

The combination of heat, humidity and cold fronts favors the formation of storms, making it important to monitor weather reports.

The trend for the month is irregular rainfall, periods of heat and temporary drops in temperatures, characteristics that should mark the transition from spring to summer in the Paraná.
