Operation Seizes Nearly 4 Tons of Marijuana in Truck Loaded with Hay in Paraná
The operation aimed to combat drug trafficking, smuggling, and the diversion of goods from the border region.
During an integrated action on Thursday (24th), involving the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the Federal Police (PF) and the Paraná (11th CIPM) Military Police, approximately 3,962.55 kg of marijuana were seized during an inspection in BR-369, in Cambé, in Paraná.
The action was aimed at combating drug trafficking, smuggling and misrouting of goods from the border region. During the approach, at the height of km 159 of the highway, the teams boarded a Mercedes-Benz truck carrying an apparent hay/alpha load.
During the inspection, the driver presented behavior considered suspicious and tax documentation that did not correspond to the characteristics of the transport. Later, a new invoice was presented, with divergent schedules, which reinforced the suspicion of the teams.
Before the situation, a thorough inspection was carried out in the vehicle. During the inspection, the agents located a large amount of marijuana hidden in the cargo, totaling approximately 3,962.55 kg of the drug. A cell phone was also seized.
According to preliminary information provided by the driver, the goods would be destined for the city of Americana (SP).
The man, the vehicle and the drug seized were sent to the Federal Police Station in Londrina (PR), where the appropriate legal procedures were carried out.
In just one week, the PRF Police Station in Londrina seized 12,344.55 kg of drugs in three occurrences, as a result of the surveillance actions and combating the trafficking of narcotics carried out in the region.
