Ponta Grossa sends largest delegation to JOJUPs in Umuarama

Ponta Grossa will have 122 participants in the state phase of JOJUPs in Umuarama, with athletes in team and individual sports

Ponta Grossa will be represented by its largest delegation in the Paraná Youth Games State Phase (JOJUPs). Between October 10 and 12, 122 members of the municipality participate in the competitions in Umuarama, in the northwest of the state.

The Ponta Grossense delegation has 95 athletes, as well as technicians and servers who will support the teams during the disputes. The participation is accompanied by Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Municipal Secretariat of Sports.

The city representatives secured a place in the state stage after advancing through the Regional and Macroregional phases of the JOJUPs.

In the group modalities, Ponta Grossa will have teams in women’s and men’s basketball, women’s and men’s handball and men’s volleyball.

Athletes face ranked teams from different regions of the Paraná in search of the best positions of the state competition.

The city will also have athletes in individual events

The delegation will also have representatives in different individual modalities.

Ponta Grossa competes in table tennis, cycling and chess, in the women's and men's categories. The city will also participate in female rhythmic gymnastics.

With 122 members, this will be the largest delegation ever taken by the municipality for this stage of the Youth Games of Paraná.

JOJUPs continue in the second half of October

The competition will continue from 15 to 18 October. In this stage, the teams of the collective modalities that advance in the first disputes follow in the search for the final placements.

The second period of the JOJUPs will also feature the swimming tests, a modality in which Ponta Grossa will have representatives.

The Youth Games of Paraná are one of the main sports competitions aimed at the grassroots categories in the State and bring together athletes from municipalities of different regions of Paraná.
