Santa Casa de Ponta Grossa holds 5th edition of "Desfile do Bem" this Saturday
Event open to the public celebrates the lives of oncology patients, reinforces awareness in October Pink and will feature a food court and bingo in the Silvana Kuhn space
The Santa Casa Mercy of Ponta Grossa promotes this Saturday (24) the fifth edition of the Parade of Good. The free and open to the community event will be held in the event space Silvana Kuhn, located in Colonia Dona Luísa, with opening of the gates at 4pm. The initiative aims to celebrate life, raise the self-esteem of patients in cancer treatment and raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis.

In an interview with the BnT News program on Friday (23), Santa Casa’s supply manager and organizer of the event, Jessica France, highlighted that the parade has already consolidated in the city’s calendar as a moment of welcome and relaxation. “The parade is for the patients. It is to provide a moment of distraction, to celebrate life, to try to forget a little of the disease and bring joy. Our multidisciplinary team seeks to offer this care and well-being at all times, regardless of the diagnosis and the phase of treatment," explained Jessica.
"Five Senses" on the runway and special preparation
Originally conceived by the oncological surgeon Dr. Ricardo Aurichio to integrate the actions of the Outubro Rosa, the Parade of Good reaches its fifth edition with the theme "Five Senses". Before the patients climb the catwalk, the audience will participate in an immersive sensory experience involving smell, taste, hearing and touch, culminating in the vision — which will begin the parade, scheduled for 5 p.m.
Currently, Santa Casa serves more than 1,500 patients in the field of oncology — a number that is expected to double next year with the inauguration of the institution’s new Oncology Center. To represent this group on the catwalk, about 100 patients (mostly women, but also with male participation) were selected.
The programming for the participants begins long before the opening to the public, in a "pre-parade" focused on personal care:
Beauty Day: Volunteers from the areas of aesthetics, makeup and hair prepare patients.
Wellness: Massage sessions and moments of integration with partners.
Fashion: Partner stores of clothing, footwear and accessories provide the looks chosen by the patients themselves.
Structure and solidarity
This year’s space has been expanded and has a fully covered area and capacity to accommodate up to a thousand people seated. In addition to the presentations and the parade, the venue will have a structured food court with tables, chairs and food and drinks sale, followed by a bingo open to all present. The organization informs that the "cork is free" (the public can bring their own drink at no additional cost, being necessary only to bring their own glasses or utensils).

Although the main focus is not the direct raising of financial resources, the realization of the event depends on the solidarity network of partner companies and volunteers. "The Santa Casa is everyone's. Those who cannot help financially can donate their work and service in the pre-parade, as makeup artists and hairdressers volunteers. In addition, the simple fact of going there to prestige these warriors already changes the look at oncology and gives a new perspective to patients and their families," said the organizer.
