The president of the Social Assistance Foundation of Ponta Grossa (FASPG), Tatyana Belo, was at Câmara Municipal on Wednesday (4) to present the main actions developed by the institution and request support from councillors in allocating resources for social assistance of the municipality.

During participation in the Free Tribune, Tatyana highlighted the need to expand the structure of services offered to the population in a situation of vulnerability.

Among the alternatives presented is the use of tax amendments to finance projects and improve the conditions of attendance.

The president gave parliamentarians a portfolio of information on the programs maintained by the Foundation, including structural demands and proposals that may receive investments. The objective is to provide councilors with an overview of the needs of the social assistance network and to facilitate the application of available resources.

Lack of structure limits expansion of services

During the presentation, Tatyana stressed that social assistance constitutes a public policy of responsibility of the State and needs to count on sufficient resources to meet the demands of the population.

Although the Foundation maintains permanent contact with the Legislative and receives requests from different communities, the president explained that the insufficiency of professionals, equipment and adequate spaces represents an obstacle to the expansion of services.

According to her, the strengthening of the structure is fundamental to guarantee better working conditions for teams and broaden the scope of public policies of social protection.

Entity projects can also receive resources

Another measure presented to the councilors was the creation of a project bank organized by the Municipal Council of Social Assistance (CMAS).

The tool brings together proposals from social assistance organizations that have already passed the evaluation and approval of the Council, being empowered to receive resources through parliamentary amendments.

The initiative aims to bring the Legislative Council closer to the entities that directly serve the population, especially those that face difficulties in formalizing investment requests.

In addition to identifying the needs of each institution, the document presents information on the objectives and the values expected for the implementation of the proposals.

The organization of this material also seeks to avoid problems registered throughout this year in the procedures of nomination and transfer of resources.

Social development must accompany the growth of the city

At the end of the participation, Tatyana advocated greater integration between social assistance and other public policies, especially in the areas of health, education, professional training and generation of opportunities.

In the president’s assessment, care for families in a situation of vulnerability should go beyond immediate support, creating conditions for citizens to gain greater autonomy and better life prospects.

She also stressed that the economic growth of Ponta Grossa needs to be accompanied by social advances capable of reaching the entire population.

“So that we can increasingly make the most vulnerable population of Ponta Grossa manage, in this social development, to walk along with the economic development of our city,” he said.

The expectation of the Foundation is that the presentation of the projects will contribute to broaden the dialogue with the councilors and enable new investments in the social assistance network of the municipality.
