Technical bus fare drops 7.9% in Ponta Grossa; decree does not change the ticket price
Reference value for public transport dropped from R$ 7.88 to R$ 7.26 in October; the update does not represent an automatic reduction in the price paid by the passenger

The Ponta Grossa technical transport rate fell approximately 7.9% in October. The value was set at R$ 7.26 by Decree no 27.013/2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality on Monday (26). In September, the reference was R$ 7.88, which represents a reduction of R$ 0.62.
Signed on 22 October by prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt and the city’s attorney general, Edinei Steger Rinaldi, the decree sets the value for the period from 1 to 31 October 2026.

The previous technical tariff had been defined by Decree No. 26.924/2026, with validity for September. The October update therefore reduces the system reference value from the previous month.
What changes for the passenger?
The reduction of the technical fare does not mean that the ticket has become cheaper. The decree published on Monday deals exclusively with the technical value and does not determine a change in the public tariff, charged to users on boarding.
The two values have different functions. The technical tariff is a reference for the cost and remuneration of the collective transport operation. The public fare corresponds to the price charged to the passenger.
Therefore, the drop of R $ 0.62 can not be presented as a discount on the ticket. A change in the price paid by users depends on a specific determination on the public fare.
Impact on subsidy not reported
The publication also does not present the calculation that led to the reduction nor does it explain what factors contributed to the change between September and October. The decree does not inform how much the municipality must disburse in subsidies in the period. Thus, the fall of 7.9% in the technical tariff, in isolation, does not allow to conclude that public transfers will have a reduction in the same percentage.
To measure the financial impact, it is necessary to know the amount of passengers considered in the calculation and the remuneration rules applied to the system. The new decree comes into force on the date of its publication, with the value of R$ 7.26 referring to the entire month of October.
