Third Suspect in Man's Murder Arrested in Ponta Grossa; Weapon Used in Crime Seized
Crime Occurred This Year. During the Investigation, the Owner of the Weapon Used in the Crime Eventually Indicated to the Team the Location Where It Had Been Hidden
The Civil Police of Ponta Grossa made the arrest of the third suspect investigated for the murder of Luiz Rafael Buturre dos Santos, on the afternoon of Thursday (15). After the execution of this last arrest warrant, the three investigated for the crime were heard again by the police team.
During the unfoldings, the owner of the weapon used in the crime ended up indicating to the team the place where it had been hidden. The diligence resulted in the seizure of the weapon, a 9mm caliber pistol, an action that counted on the help of the Scientific Police.
With this arrest, the investigation totals three suspects arrested. On September 1, 2026, the first suspect, 39, was arrested after appearing at the police headquarters accompanied by his lawyer. Subsequently, on October 7, 2026, a second suspect was also arrested preemptively.
Remember the case
The counting began on August 28, 2026, after the victim’s body was located with physical assault injuries and firearm punctures on a rural highway in the Jardim Planalto region, in Ponta Grossa.
According to the elements gathered in the investigation, the crime was motivated by private revenge, based on the unfounded suspicion that Luiz Rafael was involved in a theft that occurred in the residence of one of the suspects days before.
The police investigations and surveys showed that the victim did not have a criminal history for property crimes and had no relationship with the aforementioned theft. The count indicates that Luiz Rafael was attracted by concealment, being the victim of an ambush before being executed.
As the delegate responsible for the case, Luís Gustavo Timossi, points out, the proceedings are actively proceeding for the total clarification of the circumstances of the crime and for the due accountability of all those involved in the criminal action.
