The heavy storms on Paraná, recorded between Sunday and Monday, caused damage in at least 17 municipalities and mobilized teams from Defesa Civil and the Fire Department. According to a preliminary survey released by the state government, 1,277 people were affected, nine were displaced, 350 homes were damaged and a house was completely destroyed.
The cities of Maringá, in the Northwest, and Marquinho, in the Center-South region, are among the most affected. The storms caused flashes, tree falls, damage to the electricity grid and blockages on streets and avenues.
Given the gravity of the situation, the Government of Paraná reinforced the service to the affected cities, including the sending of firefighters from Ponta Grossa, Curitiba, Londrina and Cascavel to assist in emergency operations.
Winds of 90 km/h cause destruction in Maringá
In Maringá, the storm hit the city during the morning of Monday (2), with gusts of wind that reached 90 km / h at certain points.
The force of the winds has knocked down trees, damaged buildings, compromised the supply of electricity and left several roads blocked. Municipal and state teams work on removing obstacles and assessing damages.
To coordinate the work, an integrated management office was installed, bringing together representatives of different public bodies. The executive coordinator of Defesa Civil Estadual, Colonel Ivan Ricardo Fernandes, was also deployed to monitor the operations and assist in the care of the affected families.
The Fire Department sent reinforcements from different regions of the Paraná, including military Ponta Grossa. The teams mainly act in the cutting of trees, removal of branches and release of streets and avenues.
The headquarters of the 5th Military Fire Battalion, in Maringá, was hit by the storm. Part of the roof of the administrative building was torn off and five cars were damaged. Despite the situation, no military personnel were injured, and the attendance was maintained.

Paraná may face new storms this week
The concern of the authorities continues due to the forecast of new climatic instability in the Paraná.
According to the Environmental Technology and Monitoring System of Paraná (Simepar), the rains should gain intensity between Wednesday (4) and Thursday (5), with the formation of an extratropical cyclone on the coast of the South region and the advance of a cold front.
The scenario also demands attention from the residents of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais, especially in the face of the possibility of strong winds and intense rainfall in different regions of the State.
The Defesa Civil recommends that the population follow the weather warnings, avoid staying close to trees, poles and vulnerable structures, and seek safe shelter during storms.
