Thunderstorms move away from Ponta Grossa; worries over?
Simepar forecast indicates dry weather until Monday (28), but points to rain and wind gusts starting from Tuesday (29)
The storms gave a truce in Ponta Grossa, but that doesn’t mean the risk is definitely over. In the forecast consulted on Thursday (24), Simepar indicates a 0% probability of rain from today until Monday (28) in the municipality. By Tuesday (29), however, the projection starts to indicate rain and gusts of wind. As the forecast may change, the guidance is to keep up with official updates.
On Thursday morning, the Ponta Grossa weather station recorded 13.6 °C and no precipitation at the time of measurement, at 9:30. Simepar also reported that despite the cloudiness over Campos Gerais during the early morning, there was no rainfall for that period.
How is the weather in the next few days
The daily forecast of Simepar points to no rain on Friday (25), Saturday (26), Sunday (27) and Monday (28). By Tuesday (29), the system projects 10.5 millimeters of rain, a 98% probability of occurrence and gusts of up to 54 km/h. On Wednesday (30), the projection rises to 31.9 millimeters, also with the possibility of gusts of up to 54 km/h. These volumes are estimates and should be checked again closer to the dates.
So, the risk is over? The immediate threat of new storms has decreased according to the current forecast for Ponta Grossa. This does not amount to a guarantee of safety in locations that already show damage, flooding or signs of ground instability. Nor does it mean that the rest of the spring will be free of strong events.
Simepar reported that rainfall was above average throughout the Paraná during the 2026 weather winter. According to the agency, El Niño has been active since June and favors a pattern of higher precipitation in the South of Brazil. The state-owned Defesa Civil maintains monitoring of the phenomenon and recommends attention to weather warnings. This information addresses the wider weather trend and is not a storm warning for Ponta Grossa on Thursday.
