Trio goes to trial in Ponta Grossa over homicide linked to prison and embezzlement, says police

More than a year after the body of Ricardo de Oliveira Osinski was found in the rural area of Ponta Grossa, three accused by the death will go to trial by the Jury Court. Fernando Siqueira de Oliveira, Jane Mara de Souza and Pedro Henrique Pereira have a session scheduled for next Tuesday, September 22, at 8:30 am, at the State Forum of Ponta Grossa. The proceedings are carried out as criminal proceedings under the jurisdiction of the jury and have as their main subject qualifying homicide.

The trial represents a new stage in a case that, according to the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR), involved embezzlement, private prison, sedation of the victim and murder. The investigation began on March 26, 2025, when Ricardo’s body was located in the vicinity of Estrada do Alagado, at Ponta Grossa.

The beginning of the murder case

According to the Civil Police investigation, the events before his death began on March 11, 2025, when Ricardo suffered an accident in a guesthouse and needed to be hospitalized.

PCPR reported that the owner of a therapeutic clinic, who was registered as the victim’s emergency contact, was called. From the access to Ricardo’s belongings and cell phone, according to the investigation, bank movements for the benefit of the clinic and people connected to it would have begun.

According to the police, R $ 86,5 thousand were diverted while Ricardo remained hospitalized. The movements would have continued after his discharge and even after his death. Throughout the investigation, the PCPR pointed to the subtraction of approximately R$ 143,600 from the victim’s accounts.

Police point to prison and sedation

With the advance of the diligences, the investigation went on to maintain that, after receiving medical discharge, Ricardo would have been kept in private prison. According to the conclusion of the police investigation, controlled drugs were administered without a prescription to keep the victim sedated while financial resources were withdrawn from their accounts.

Civil police said the murder was committed when the discovery of the financial misappropriations became imminent. This is the thesis constructed by the investigation and subsequently submitted to the Justice, and it is up to the Jury to analyze the charges relating to the crime against life.

The body was found on the road of the Alagado

Ricardo was found dead on March 26, 2025, in the region of Estrada do Alagado. According to PCPR, the body had several gunshot wounds. The discovery initiated the investigation conducted by the Homicide Sector of the 13th Police Subdivision of Ponta Grossa.

The Civil Police pointed from the first phases of the investigation to the existence of indications of financial motivation and premeditation. According to the delegate responsible for the investigation, the suspects would have taken advantage of the vulnerability situation of the victim to access accounts and carry out transactions.

The couple's arrest and the investigation

In April 2025, a couple who owned a rehabilitation clinic were arrested during the investigation. At the time, the Justice also authorized searches in addresses linked to the investigated and the blocking of values.

Among the objects located were two bicycles that, according to police, were bought with money taken from Ricardo's account. The PCPR also found that, the day after the location of the body, a transfer of R$ 27,500 to the clinic would have occurred.

Then a third investigator was arrested. According to the Civil Police, he had been an intern of the clinic and confessed to participating in the murder during the investigation, telling the police that he had acted at the behest of the couple who owned the establishment. This is a statement made during the investigation, which forms part of the set of elements that will be assessed judicially.

This investigator also indicated where bank cards and other belongings of the victim were hidden. According to PCPR, the objects were found in the couple's residence.

Three were indicted

At the conclusion of the investigation, in June 2025, the Civil Police reported having indicted three people for qualified homicide, private prison, qualified theft and criminal association. The police conclusion described the case as a scheme involving appropriation of financial resources, deprivation of the victim’s liberty and murder.

Currently, the court process identifies as defendants Fernando Siqueira de Oliveira, Jane Mara de Souza and Pedro Henrique Pereira. The victim registered in the autos is Ricardo de Oliveira Osinski.

One of the defendants collaborated with the award-winning

The process gained a new element in 2026. Pedro Henrique Pereira signed an award-winning collaboration agreement, later approved by the Justice. During a hearing held on August 11, Pedro stated that he had freely and spontaneously concluded the agreement and was accompanied by a lawyer. The judge considered the legal requirements to be met and approved the collaboration.

According to the decision, among the results presented by the collaboration is the identification and individualization of the conducts attributed to the co-authors. As the case falls under the jurisdiction of the Jury Court, the magistrate determined that the jurors should also be questioned about the effectiveness of the collaboration.

The term made available by the Court does not fully reveal the content of the statements made by Pedro nor does it anticipate how they will be used by the parties during the session.

Justice has kept the three prisoners

A few weeks before the trial, the court re-examined the situation of the accused. In a decision of 3 September 2026, Judge Luiz Carlos Fortes Bittencourt maintained the pretrial detention of Fernando, Jane and Pedro. The magistrate said that the grounds used previously for pretrial detention remained.

In the decision, the judge recorded that the elements gathered in the process point to evidence of premeditation and also mentioned evidence that the defendants concealed evidence, making it difficult to elucidate the facts. These circumstances form part of the grounds of the injunction and do not in themselves constitute a definitive conviction.

The jury will take place next Tuesday.

The three defendants are expected to appear in prison at the trial. The Justice issued a request for Fernando Siqueira de Oliveira and Jane Mara de Souza to be presented by armed escort. Pedro Henrique Pereira, who is in the Public Chain of Wenceslau Braz, also had the presentation requested for the trial.

The session is scheduled for Tuesday (22), at 8.30am, on Ponta Grossa. It will be up to the jurors to analyze the charges related to the murder and the elements presented by the prosecution and the defenses. Until a final decision, the three defendants must be treated as defendants, with the preservation of the presumption of innocence.
