UEPG opens 10 new vacancies for medicine in 2024
Students classified in the waiting list from the 2024 admission processes and who submitted the enrollment documentation are being called

In 2024, candidates will have new opportunities to study in the Ponta Grossa State University Medicine course. The institution announced on Thursday (15) that, in addition to the 40 vacancies already offered, there will be an additional ten vacancies for the course. The measure already applies to students enrolled in February 2024, who start the school year on Monday (19).
“The State University of Ponta Grossa reinforces its commitment to expanding opportunities in the most diverse areas, in undergraduate courses, so that we can increasingly occupy the role of an institution that changes the life of the community and of the people who come to UEPG”, celebrated the dean, Professor Miguel Sanches Neto. According to him, who took the opportunity to thank the Department of Medicine and the others involved in this important achievement, the objective is to increase the supply of doctors to the population of Ponta Grossa and Paraná.

Students placed on the waiting list in the 2024 entry selection processes and who have submitted enrollment documentation are being called by the system. The ten places were distributed between Vestibular (7 places, 3 for students from public schools and one place for each quota: for people with disabilities; black people of any school path; black people from public schools; and universal) and PSS (3 places).
“I want to express my gratitude, commitment and support to the strategic decision of UEPG. Congratulations on this courageous decision,” said the Secretary of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Paraná, Professor Aldo Nelson Bona. “Expanding the offer of vacancies will certainly provide many more people with training in a public university, free of charge and of quality.”
With the change, the UEPG offers 37 places for the vestibular and 13 for the Processo Seletivo Seriado (PSS). In 2024, the Vestibular is scheduled for December 8th, with registrations from September 1st to 30th. Another form of admission to the institution is through the PSS, for students of the Ensino Médio, which receives registrations from August 1 to 30 and will take place on November 24. Literary works, writing genres and programmatic content are now available on the CPS website.

For Professor Gilberto Baroni, head of the Department of Medicine, expanding the vacancies is an important step for the University and for the course itself. “We are convinced of the quality of the training of future doctors, who are trained both in the technical-scientific aspect and in the ethical aspect,” he emphasizes.
The history of the course begins in 1968, with the creation of the Faculty of Medicine of Ponta Grossa, and is realized more than four decades later, with the effective implementation of the course, in 2009. Since then, the UEPG has trained with excellence about 500 medical professionals in the course that has the maximum grade (concept 5) in the evaluation of the Ministry of Education (MEC). In addition to the structure of laboratories and classrooms in Block M on the Uvaranas Campus, the degree is supported by the University Hospitals.
“A course that is a reference in the professional training process and that will continue to be, but that from 2029 will return to society, annually, 50 new doctors (10 more than today). This is the spirit of the public institution: to help as much as possible to reduce and solve social problems”, concludes the pro-rector of Graduation, Professor Miguel Archanjo de Freitas Júnior. For those who dream of pursuing a quality degree in a public university, there are ten new chances of winning the so-called vacancy.
