Collapse completely blocks BR-277 in Serra da Esperança, between Guarapuava and Prudentópolis

BR-277 banned in the Serra da Esperança, between the municipalities of Prudentopolis and Guarapuava, in the central region of the Paraná, causes disturbances to drivers on Saturday (24). According to information passed on by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), a landslide hit the highway and caused the total blockage of traffic in both directions.

The ban was reported after the landfall record on the runway. With the obstruction of the highway, drivers who need to move between Guarapuava and Prudentópolis must avoid the stretch until the safety conditions are restored.

The situation requires special attention from those who use the BR-277 for travel, freight transport and travel between municipalities in the region. The stretch of the Serra da Esperança is an important road link of the Paraná.

Alternative route by Inácio Martins is also prohibited

In addition to the BR-277, another highway in the region has problems this Saturday. According to information from the Department of Roads of Paraná (DER-PR), PR-364 is also totally prohibited at the height of km 124, in the region of Serra do Leão, in Inácio Martins.

The blockage occurs due to a landslide that compromised the circulation of vehicles. Teams were mobilized to act on site and carry out the necessary work for the release of the track.

The possibility of using the route by Inácio Martins is impaired. Drivers should not consider this freeway as an alternative without first consulting the responsible bodies.

BR-277 ban requires drivers’ attention

The blockade of the BR-277 in the Serra da Esperança represents a disturbance to regional traffic, mainly because the blockade occurs on a link between Guarapuava and Prudentópolis.

The Serra da Esperança region had already been receiving works to recover and stabilize slopes, including interventions on slopes to strengthen the safety of the highway. In September, dealership EPR Iguaçu announced changes in traffic at km 312 to continue services.

There is, however, no confirmation that the collapse reported on Saturday occurred exactly at the same point as the works.

Until the moment of the information received, a forecast of the release of BR-277 was not released. The volume of land that hit the track or the existence of victims related to the occurrence were also not officially reported.
