Defense clarifies case of cloned vehicle seized in Ponta Grossa and denies driver's arrest

The defense of the driver involved in the case of a cloned vehicle in Ponta Grossa released a clarification note on Wednesday, after the publication of information about the seizure of the car by the Transit Operations Group (GOTRAN), in the Uvaranas neighborhood.

The case occurred on Monday (14), when GOTRAN teams boarded a Hyundai/HB20 vehicle during an oversight at the Avenida Carlos Cavalcanti. According to information provided by the Military Police, inconsistencies were identified in the identification elements of the automobile, including irregularities in the QR Code of the plate, signs of change in the chassis and divergence in the engine numbering.

According to the defense, the driver was referred to the Civil Police Station to present her version of the facts, but there was no arrest in flagrante. The lawyer also states that the client acquired the vehicle lawfully and was unaware of any possible irregularity.

The driver’s defense comes through this to provide the necessary clarifications about the facts reported on September 14, 2026, involving the seizure of a motor vehicle and the driving of her client to the Civil Police Station to present her version of the facts.

On September 14, 2026, in the neighborhood of Uvaranas, in this city of Ponta Grossa/PR, agents of the Transit Operations Group (GOTRAN) proceeded to approach the civil motor vehicle owned and possessed by our client, having been found irregularities in the QR Code identification of the license plate, in the chassis and in the numbering of the engine, in consequence of the

It must be clarified that hours before the approach, even on the same day of September 14, 2026, the driver had already registered the Occurrence Bulletin on her own initiative, due to a traffic fine registered in the State of São Paulo, where the vehicle was never, in this way, this circumstance shows, in an unequivocal way, that the driver was the first to seek the authorities.

Therefore, there was no arrest in flagrante, nor any precautionary measure restrictive of freedom, but only its conduct, and, in turn, when using in the transmission the expression "prison", used in the news, does not correspond to the reality of the facts.

Because the customer acquired the vehicle lawfully in resale of automobiles established in this city, and holds its possession for more than two years, in a regular legal business, because it promoted the registration of the vehicle in its name before the DETRAN/PR, subjecting the good to the transfer of ownership procedure and the administrative requirements then applicable, and contracted insurance of the vehicle, through regular and current policy, also used the property peacefully.

The performance of these acts before official bodies demonstrates unequivocally that the behavior of the driver is therefore incompatible with the science of any irregularity, there is therefore no element that demonstrates, that the driver has performed or that she knew about the alleged alteration of the identifying signs.

Finally, it clarifies that only the vehicle was seized for the purposes of technical expertise to be carried out by the competent authority seeking the elucidation of the facts.

We reaffirm our confidence in the institutions and in the due process of law, certain that the regular investigation will demonstrate the absence of criminal responsibility of our client, whose conduct was, at all times, transparency and cooperation.

As previously reported, the vehicle was located after an alert issued by the Vivo Eye monitoring system. During the approach, according to GOTRAN, changes were identified in the vehicle's identifying signals, which was referred to the forensic procedures.
