FAB and security forces search for helicopter with singer Rick after disappearance in SC
Helicopter carrying Rick, who went missing in SC, is the target of FAB and rescue teams searches after losing contact during flight
The helicopter carrying Rick missing in Santa Catarina mobilizes rescue teams after the aircraft lost contact during a trip on Monday. The singer Rick, of the duo Rick and Renner, is among the occupants of the Bell 430 helicopter, registration PP-MGR, which left Porto Belo (SC) and did not reach its intended destination.
The Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB), through the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA), reported that it was triggered to carry out the searches for the aircraft. The Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center of Curitiba (ARCC-CW), known as Salvaero Curitiba, has begun the investigation and planning of the operation.
According to the FAB, specialized search and rescue aircraft were employed, including two Black Hawk helicopters (H-60) and one SC-105 Amazonas aircraft. The equipment has the ability to operate in different terrains, weather conditions and periods of the day.
The operation has as a priority to locate the helicopter that had Rick missing and its occupants in the shortest possible time. The teams work based on the information available to define the areas with the greatest possibility of locating the aircraft.
The Santa Catarina Military Police (PMSC) also participates in the operation. According to the corporation, the searches take place in the region of serra, in Urubici, in the Serra Catarinense, with teams operating on land due to adverse weather conditions.
The PMSC also reported that different sectors were mobilized, including the Environmental Military Police, Polícia Militar Rodoviária and ostensible policing. Drones are also being used to aid in surveying the area and expand the range of searches.
According to information released on the case, the aircraft lost contact during a period of strong storm in the region. The last recorded sign would indicate a mountainous area and dense vegetation, with no confirmation so far of forced landing or fall.
In addition to singer Rick, three other people were aboard the helicopter. Until the last update of the authorities, there was no official confirmation about the identity of all the occupants or about the whereabouts of the aircraft.
The teams are still mobilized and new information must be disclosed by the responsible bodies as the search for the helicopter that carried Rick disappears progresses.
