Flávio proposes end of re-election and fight against factions at Globo
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), presidential candidate, participated in a Sunday debate at Globo and advocated for the end of re-election, reduction of ministries and criticized Lula's administration. He also justified his vote in favor of ending the 6x1 work schedule.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, participated on a Saturday in TV Globo on Thursday. During the interview, he advocated the end of re-election for executive positions, promised to reduce ministries and maintain the end of the 6x1 scale. The candidate also rebuffed the campaign’s criticism of its economic proposals.
Flavio denies threats to servers and state
When asked about criticism that his economic proposals could compromise pensions, servants’ rights, and state-owned enterprises, Flavio said the petista campaign distorts his government program. “My competitor is promoting real terrorism on top of public servants, on top of state officials, saying that I would end retirements, that I would end public servants, that I would privatize Banco do Brasil, Caixa, Petrobras,” he said.
The senator then summarized his assessment of the public accounts: “I am running for president, which is a very serious thing, and the biggest fiscal adjustment that Brazil can make is to take Lula out.” The candidate advocated cuts in administrative expenses and reduction of the federal structure.
Reduction of ministries and expenditure
“We have to fight expenses and generate new revenues. The current government has 39 ministries. We will cut at least ten,” he said in another response during the interview. Flavius also promised to reduce commissioned posts and revise administrative rules. According to him, the economic team works on measures to reduce the costs of the State and facilitate business activity.
The candidate reaffirmed that he intends to submit a proposal for an amendment to the Constitution (PEC) to end the re-election of presidents, governors and mayors. The senator also said he does not intend to run for a second term if he wins the election.
End of re-election and detachment from power
"I'm not vying for power, I'm vying for the future of our nation. I am here committing myself, I just need a warrant,” he said. Then he stated: “I have detachment from power, I have no power project on my part.” The proposal would also reach relatives of elected executive heads, according to the candidate.
The change would depend on approval of the Congresso Nacional. Currently, the Constitution allows for consecutive re-elections for the holders of these positions. The senator was asked about the change of position regarding the proposal that extinguishes the 6x1 work scale.
Change of position on 6x1 scale
During the campaign, he had called the initiative “opportunist” and “voter.” In the vote on the proposal, it recorded a vote in favour. Flavio justified the decision based on the conversations he had during the campaign.
“I heard a lot of workers and I voted according to what I heard on the streets. As I heard from the vast majority of workers that they were in favor of ending the 6x1 scale, I decided to follow the will of the majority of Brazilian workers,” he said.
Freedom for working hours
The senator also advocated the possibility for employees to organize their own schedules. As an example, he cited women who raise their children alone and face difficulties in reconciling employment with childcare. “I have always advocated more freedom so that workers could even set up their own working day,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of trying to reverse the end of the 6x1 scale, Flavio said he would respect Congressional deliberation. The Sabbath is part of the series of interviews with presidential candidates conducted by the station.
