Luizinho Lopes fired from the Worker was the end of the night on Wednesday (7), after the Phantom lost by 2 to 1 to Botafogo-SP, in turn, in Estádio Germano Krüger, in Ponta Grossa. Shortly after the match, the club announced on social media that the coach does not remain in charge of the main team.

In addition to Luizinho Lopes, the club leaves the assistant coach Robson Agondi, who was part of the technical committee of the coach. The board said it is already working to define who will take over the team in the sequential series of the Brazilian Championship.

The departure was announced a few hours after another negative result of the Worker in the national competition.

Worker announces exit of Luizinho Lopes

In a statement published on social networks, the Worker officially confirmed the shutdown of the coach.

“Operário Ferroviário Esporte Clube informs that Luizinho Lopes is no longer the head coach of the Phantom main team,” the club said in a statement.

The Worker also confirmed the departure of Robson Agondi.

In the publication, the club thanked the two professionals for the services provided and highlighted the period of work of the technical commission, especially the conquest of the Paranaense Championship.

The board also said that it is working on the definition of the new coach and that new information will be released later.

Worker opens the scoreboard but suffers a turnaround

Before the announcement involving Luizinho Lopes, the Worker had been defeated by Botafogo-SP 2–1 in the 32nd round of the Serie B.

The Phantom started the game intensely and opened the scoreboard in the first minute.

Vinícius Diniz received with space and risked a finish from outside the area. The ball diverged in the way and ended up at the bottom of the nets, putting the team of Ponta Grossa in advantage very early in the confrontation.

Even behind in the scoreboard, Botafogo-SP managed to grow during the first half.

The São Paulo team swings the nets at eight minutes. Wesley Santos finished outside the area, Vágner rebated and Morelli took advantage of the leftover, but the goal was overturned by impediment.

The visiting team kept pushing.

At 29 minutes, Leandro Maciel tried to finish the intermediate and forced the goalkeeper Vágner to send the ball to the corner.

Patrick Brey ties before break

The insistence of Botafogo-SP gave results in the 43 minutes of the first stage.

Patrick Brey took the lap and finished, beating Vágner to leave the score in 1-1.

The goal took the teams to the break on par and changed the scene of a match that had started favorable to the Phantom.

Botafogo-SP

The second half started again with Botafogo-SP looking for spaces in the offensive field.

At nine minutes, Morelli received near the entrance of the area and finished crawling. Vágner tried to make the defense, but the ball ended at the bottom of the nets.

This was the goal of the turn: Operário 1 x 2 Botafogo-SP.

From there, the Ghost tried to react and press for the draw.

At 22 minutes, Joseph had a good chance at the top. The player nodded and saw the ball pass very close to the left beam.

In the final straight, the situation of the Worker became even more complicated. Jose Cuenú was kicked out after a move involving Patrick Brey, leaving the team with one player less.

Botafogo-SP managed to control the final minutes and confirmed the three points away from home.

Defeat preceded announcement of resignation

With the result, the Worker remained with 48 points in the Serie B and wasted the opportunity to gain ground in the contest for the first positions of the competition.

Botafogo-SP, on the other hand, won three important points in the fight to increase the distance from the relegation zone.

Shortly after the game ended, the main repercussion of the night came on Germano Krüger: Luizinho Lopes was fired from the Worker.

The coach ends his time at the Fantasma with the conquest of the Paranaense Championship among the main results of his career in the club.

Now, the Worker’s Board is working on finding a replacement at a pivotal moment in Series B.

Next game of the Worker

The Phantom returns to the field on Sunday (11), at 6.30 pm, again in Germano Krüger, in Ponta Grossa.

The opponent will be Goiás, for the 33rd round of the Serie B of the Brazilian Championship.

The expectation now becomes about who will command the Worker in the preparation and departure before the Goian team.
