TSE's preliminary ruling suspends Dallagnol's Senate campaign in Paraná while the appeal on the candidate's registration is under review. The decision is not final.
In a preliminary ruling, Minister Floriano de Azevedo Marques ordered the suspension of Dallagnol’s campaign and electoral propaganda while the court examines the appeal on the registration of the candidacy.
The decision comes after the TRE do Paraná approved, by 4 votes to 3, Dallagnol’s registration to contest the Senate.
And here’s the point that can mess with the election: Dallagnol appears among the leaders of the polls for the Senate on Paraná. Now, with the campaign suspended, a new dispute opens for the electorate that had been declaring vote in it.
But these votes do not necessarily migrate to a single candidate. They can stay with Dallagnol, migrate to other names or increase the number of undecided voters.
And as the Paraná will elect two senators, this move may be especially relevant to the composition of the dispute.
For now, it is important to note: the injunction is not a definitive decision on the application. The TSE will still judge the case.
But politically, the decision already changes the scene: one of the names that appears in the leadership of the Senate race now enters into a judicial dispute that may change the dynamics of the campaign.
