The Civil Police concluded the investigation and indicted the deputy mayor of Guamiranga, Igor Pontarolo, for qualified damage, threat and contempt after an occurrence in the municipal hospital and the Ministry of Health. The case happened on October 20, when he took a patient in his lap to the emergency room.

The investigation was forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which, until the morning of Wednesday (28), was still evaluating whether it would file a complaint with the Justice. Pontarolo was arrested in flagrante on the day of the occurrence and received provisional release the following day. Security footage shows the deputy mayor arrived at the hospital at 4:48 p.m. with his wife in his arms.

A professional tried to open the door with an electronic lock, but failed on the first attempt. At that moment, he started kicking the structure. The door was opened about 18 seconds after arrival, allowing the patient and the companions to enter. Approximately two minutes later, Pontarolo returned to the corridor, snatched the door with his hands and threw it on the floor.

According to the report, he also went to the Health Department, attached to the hospital, where he damaged the structure of a room while looking for the secretary of the folder. The indictment includes suspicions of threat to the secretary and contempt of emergency service servers.

A friend of the deputy mayor reported in testimony that the patient went ill during a wake. According to him, the woman was convulsing when she arrived at the unit. The defense, represented by lawyer Renato Rafael Griczynski, maintains that the episode occurred in an emergency situation and should be analyzed from the perspective of the state of need. He also disputes the threat and contempt charges and disagrees with the indictment for damages.

The City of Guamiranga reported that Pontarolo paid the R$ 1,550 referring to the repair of the door. According to the municipality, there was no damage to the Department of Health that required compensation. The administration also announced that the facts had been investigated by means of syndication.

The indictment is a conclusion of the police investigation and does not represent conviction.
