Curitiba aims at new medical congresses with partnership between Convention and AMP
Partnership seeks to expand medical events in Curitiba, with capture of congresses, symposiums and national and international meetings

Curitiba Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Medical Association of Paraná (AMP) signed a partnership to expand the collection of medical events in Curitiba and the Metropolitan Region. The agreement provides for joint action in the prospecting and conducting of congresses, conferences, symposia, meetings and other medical and technical-scientific events, including national and international coverage.
The initiative seeks to bring the medical sector closer to the chain of business and events tourism of the Paraná capital. Among the objectives is to take advantage of the institutional relationship of the AMP with medical societies to identify events that have the potential to be based in Curitiba.
According to the president of the Curitiba Convention, Gislaine Queiroz, the partnership will also allow the dissemination of the Paraná Medical Association’s own structure to companies, event organizers, suppliers, hotels and other members of the sector.
With the agreement, the AMP officially integrates the Curitiba Convention in the Event Space category.
AMP structure enters the event market
The partnership establishes that the spaces belonging to the Medical Association of Paraná may be presented and indicated by the Convention for events captured or supported by the entity.
The choice will depend on the characteristics of each project, considering aspects such as audience capacity, structure and specific needs of the event.
For the Manager of Captation of the Curitiba Convention, Cristine Fabbris, one of the main opportunities is precisely in the opening of a new front of relationship with the medical sector.
The MPA should facilitate the approach of the Convention with presidents, leaders and leaders of the different Paraná medical societies with which it maintains institutional contact.
The expectation is to identify congresses and meetings that may include Curitiba in their calendars in the coming years.
Events can move tourism and economy of Curitiba
In addition to the technical and scientific impact, the strategy is related to the economic movement caused by events.
Medical congresses usually bring together professionals from different states and, in certain cases, international participants. This public moves sectors such as hospitality, gastronomy, transport, tourism, rental of spaces and specialized services.
The executive director of Curitiba Convention, Cristiane Santos, highlights that the segment has great potential for generating tourist flow and economic movement.
The partnership, therefore, is not limited to the strengthening of medical entities, but also seeks to increase Curitiba’s share of the national business tourism market.
AMP prepares for 100 years
Founded in 1933, the Medical Association of Paraná emerged from the merger of the Society of Medicine, the Medical Society of Hospitals and the Medical Union of Paraná.
Since then, the institution has acted in the representation of the medical class, promotion of scientific activities and actions related to social medicine.
The president of the AMP, José Fernando Macedo, says that the institution has been developing for two years the strategic planning that should lead the entity until 2033, when it will complete 100 years.
Among the priorities established are the development and improvement of science and the expansion of institutional partnerships.
According to Macedo, the approach to the Curitiba Convention can generate results for both professionals linked to the health sector and for society, by expanding the realization of scientific activities and moving different segments of the Paraná economy.
