Janones rejects Lula's ministry and reveals why he decided to stay in the Chamber
André Janones dismisses becoming Lula's minister, explains why he will continue in the Chamber and reveals his plans for the new government.

Federal deputy André Janones (Rede-MG) has ruled out taking on a ministry in the new government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The statement was made during an interview with TV Globo’s Fantastic program, broadcast on Sunday (1st), and reaffirmed on Monday (2). Re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies, the parliamentarian stated that he intends to continue to exercise his mandate and contribute to the political support of the president in Congresso Nacional.
The possibility of Janones to join the first echelon of the government gained strength after his participation in the 2026 presidential campaign, especially during the second round, when he coordinated a broad mobilization of supporters on social networks.
Commenting on speculations about a possible appointment, the deputy was categorical: "I will not accept any ministry. It's nailed. I am not going to be a minister of the Lula government. I will remain in the Chamber of Deputies representing the people.”
Janones explains why he doesn't want to be a minister
After the repercussions of the interview, Janones used his social networks and the communication channel with supporters to justify the decision.
Assuming a ministry would mean dealing with administrative commitments, meetings and bureaucratic demands that could limit its political and digital performance.
The MP argued that he intends to maintain autonomy to continue mobilizing his followers and supporting the federal government without the formal responsibilities of a minister.
Janones also stated that his priority will be to contribute to Lula’s governability, especially in political articulations and communication with the population.
“Army of Lula” gathered more than 10 million followers
One of the main factors that placed Janones among the names considered to integrate the government was his performance in the presidential campaign.
During the second round of the October elections, the deputy commanded the WhatsApp channel known as “Army of Lula”, which exceeded the mark of 10 million followers.
The initiative was used to organize the digital mobilization of supporters, share electoral contents and encourage the dissemination of messages favorable to the candidate.
The work gained public recognition from President Lula himself, who thanked Janones for his participation during the celebrations of the election victory on October 25.
The highlight on social networks fueled speculation about a possible participation of the deputy in the communication structure of the next government.
Members also ruled out changing party.
In addition to rejecting the possibility of assuming a ministry, André Janones stated that he intends to remain in the Sustainability Network, a legend by which he was re-elected federal deputy by Minas Gerais.
The decision is related to the political independence he finds in the acronym and loyalty to the leaders who welcomed him.
The stay in the House will allow Janones to begin his third consecutive term as a federal deputy in February 2027.
The MP also signalled that he intends to maintain the digital mobilization structure created during the elections, now aimed at monitoring the government’s actions and articulating political support for the president.
With this, Janones dismisses, at this time, the possibility of occupying a ministry, although he has expressed a willingness to continue collaborating with the administration of Lula from the Congresso Nacional.
