Man who killed his wife in front of his son in 2010 is arrested in Ponta Grossa
Convicted to 30 years in prison, 46-year-old man was located in Oficinas; according to the Civil Police, he had been living in the municipality since the year of the crime, which occurred in Arapongas
The Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR) arrested, on the morning of Tuesday (27), in the Workshops neighborhood, in Ponta Grossa, a 46-year-old man sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his then wife, which occurred in November 2010, in Arapongas, in the North of Paraná.
The location of the convict was the result of investigations by the Arapongas Civil Police, which began to monitor him and requested support from the 13th Police Subdivision of Ponta Grossa to comply with the arrest warrant.
According to PCPR, he moved to Ponta Grossa after the crime and resided in the municipality since 2010. According to the corporation, the change was aimed at hiding and escaping justice.
Remember the crime in Arapongas
According to the note released by the Civil Police, the murder took place on the night of November 21, 2010, inside the residence of the couple. The 26-year-old victim was shot with a knife in the chest and back. The son, who was 11 years old according to current information from PCPR, witnessed the assault.
A report published in November 2010 confirms that the case occurred in the Águias Set, in the northern region of Arapongas. At the time, police were called after a neighbor reported the incident. When the officers arrived, the woman was already dead. The current note informs that, after attacking his wife, the man also injured his own abdomen and needed to receive hospital care. He survived.
Jury sentenced to 30 years
The trial took place in the Comarca of Arapongas. According to PCPR, the Judgment Board of the Jury Court convicted the man of futile homicide, use of cruel means and recourse that made it difficult to defend the victim, with aggravation related to the context of domestic violence against women.
The court ordered the immediate execution of the sentence, in regime fechado. After the capture in Ponta Grossa, the convict was referred to the prison system to begin the execution of the sentence.
The police note does not indicate the date of the trial or when the arrest warrant was issued.
