Mayor Highlights Memory and Future of Ponta Grossa in BnT Book Launch

The prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt highlighted the preservation of memory and the appreciation of those who contribute to the development of Ponta Grossa during the launch of the book “Ponta Grossa: from the Route of the Tropeiros to the Trails of Innovation”. Held on Monday (28), at Sicredi headquarters, the event brought together co-authors, businessmen, authorities and representatives of different sectors of the community.

Produced by Portal BnT Online and Viva Campos Gerais, the publication connects the origins of the municipality to the economic, social and cultural transformations that help to understand the current city. The launch also marked the five-year celebration of the portal.

In her speech, Elizabeth stressed that the meaning of the work lies in the stories shared by those who participate in this collective construction. “This book is an act of memory, an act of gratitude,” said the mayor, recognizing the contribution of people and institutions to the trajectory of Ponta Grossa.

Registration for the next generations

During an interview with BnT, Elizabeth highlighted that the publication will allow readers of the future to know the achievements and perspectives of the city in this period. “Fifty years from now, people will be reading what we are doing today,” he said.

For the mayor, registering the present also requires understanding the past, the difficulties faced and the work of those who helped to build the municipality. She stressed that the work goes this way by addressing different segments and relating local history to development possibilities.

“I dreamed of a book like this, that would show how was all this social, economic and cultural development of our city,” he said.

Collective construction brings together different sectors

Throughout the solemnity, Elizabeth thanked the entrepreneurs, leaders and representatives of entities who shared their experiences in composing the publication.

The work has the participation of more than 60 companies and institutions, bringing together contributions related to industry, trade, services, cooperativism, education, culture and innovation.

The mayor also mentioned the presence of the sport, through the history of the Operário Ferroviário, and the cultural formation, represented at the event by the Rainbow Vocal of the Colégio Sagrada Família.

According to Elizabeth, this set of contributions helps to preserve the memory of those who built the city and those who continue to work for its future.

The challenge led to the publication

The journalist Marcos Silva, director of BnT Online, explained that the project was born of a proposal presented by the mayor: to show the Ponta Grossa of today without leaving aside its origins. From this challenge, the publication was built with the participation of co-authors from different areas, bringing together knowledge and experiences about the municipality.

During the launch, Elizabeth recognized the work of the team responsible for the work. “Congratulations, BnT, for the courage, for the boldness, for the challenge won,” he said.

The ceremony also had the signature of the mayor and the other co-authors in a copy intended for the collection of the portal, in addition to photographic records of the participants. The gesture marked the central proposal of the meeting: to preserve, for the next generations, the stories and the people who are part of Ponta Grossa.
