Moraes orders arrest of Eduardo Bolsonaro and mandates cancellation of passports
Former congressman, who lives in the United States, was sentenced to four years and two months in prison for attempting to interfere in the trial of his father

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), ordered the issuance of a warrant of arrest against Eduardo Bolsonaro and the cancellation of the Brazilian passports of the former deputy. The measure initiates the execution of the conviction after the closure of the appeals in the process.
Eduardo was sentenced by the First Class of STF to four years and two months of imprisonment, in semi-open initial regime, for the crime of coercion in the course of the process. The trial took place in June and dealt with his actions to interfere in the criminal prosecution of the attempted coup d’état involving the former president Jair Bolsonaro.
Decision determines the commencement of the execution of the sentence
Moraes also ordered the inclusion of the name of the former parliamentarian in the National Prisons Monitoring Bank. The sentence also provides for a fine of R$ 151,8 thousand. The start of execution occurs after the transit in judgment, a stage in which no more resources can be accommodated in the action. The order to issue the warrant does not mean that Eduardo has already been arrested. He currently lives on the Estados Unidos.
Condemnation involves pressure on the STF
According to the Supreme Court, the First Class unanimously concluded that Edward acted to embarrass and intimidate the Court during his father’s trial. The ministers considered proven the attempt to prevent the conclusion of the process by means of pressures on the judges.
According to the complaint of the Attorney General’s Office, described in the report sent, this action included joint actions by American sanctions against Brazil and Brazilian authorities. Among the measures mentioned were tariffs on domestic products, visa restrictions and the application of Lei Magnitsky against Moraes.
Defense had appeal rejected
The report informs that on September 28, the First Class unanimously rejected the appeal filed by the Public Defender of the Union, responsible for representing Eduardo in the process.

The defense claimed, among other points, spontaneous confession and parliamentary immunity. Moraes rejected the arguments and understood that the former deputy admitted facts, but did not recognize the practice of the crime. In a previous demonstration, Eduardo stated that the trial was aimed at removing him from the elections.
