Woman dies and man is injured after car accident on PR-438 in Ponta Grossa

A rollover on PR-438 left a 60-year-old woman dead and a 67-year-old man injured on Sunday morning in Ponta Grossa. The accident occurred at km 59 of the highway, in the stretch between Guaragi and the junction with PR-151.

According to information from the State Road Police (PRE), linked to the Road Police Battalion (BPRv), the vehicle involved was a Fiat Palio, with plates of Ponta Grossa.

The vehicle went off the track and capsized.

According to the data collected by the teams on site, the car followed the PR-438 in the direction of Guaragi–Ponta Grossa. Upon reaching km 59, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the track and capsized on the left side of the highway, in an area below track level.

The 60-year-old passenger was pressed between the car and a ravine. Teams from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and Siate were triggered, but the death of the woman was still at the scene.

The driver, a 67-year-old man, suffered injuries considered moderate. He received assistance from the relief teams and was referred to UPA Santa Paula, in Ponta Grossa, where he would undergo medical evaluation.

Police and forensics were activated

After the overturning in PR-438, teams of the Civil Police, the Scientific Police and the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) were also mobilized for the procedures related to the occurrence.

The service was initiated by the State Road Police around 7:50 a.m., and the team arrived at the site at approximately 8:15 a.m. At the time of the first information released by the authorities, the work was still underway.

The circumstances leading to the runway exit and overturning shall be determined by the responsible authorities.

The occurrence was recorded in a stretch of PR-438 that connects the region of Guaragi to Ponta Grossa and gives access to the junction with PR-151.
