Fisherman ran to seek help after boat overturned and colleague disappeared in PG

A 30-year-old man is missing in Rio Tibagi, in the Uvaia district region, in Ponta Grossa, after a boat flips during a fishing trip on Tuesday afternoon (8). Firefighters are searching the site.

The event takes place in the vicinity of the bridge Rio Tibagi, in the region of BR-373, with access by Rua São Sebastião, in Vila de Uvaia. Information obtained by the BnT Online team directly at the site indicates that two men were in a boat when the vessel turned over.

Boat turned during fishing

According to the report of one of the people involved, a 28-year-old man who managed to leave the river, he was organizing the fishing materials inside the boat when the other occupant had moved to one of the ends of the boat. With the weight concentrated at the tip, the vessel ended up turning and the two men fell into the water.

The survivor managed to leave the river and reach a nearby residence. At the scene, he asked a resident to fire emergency teams. The second occupant, 30 years old, would have remained initially clinging to the boat. However, due to the strength of the current, it ended up following downstream and was no longer located.

River is full and currents make search difficult

As noted by the report on the spot, the Rio Tibagi is with high level and strong current, a situation that increases concern during the work of locating the missing man. Firefighters and Samu teams were mobilized to respond to the incident.

Before the arrival of the specialized diving team, a resident of the region, who has his own boat, left the river accompanied by a member of the Fire Department to carry out the first searches. Firefighters were also called in to reinforce the operation.

Searches continue

Until the last update of this report, the 30-year-old man had not yet been located. There is no death confirmation at this time. The incident continues to be treated as a disappearance, while the teams cross the river in search of the victim.
