Flávio Bolsonaro suggests running for President before 2030
The senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) declared live during a broadcast that he may run again for the Presidency of the Republic before 2030. The statement comes after his defeat by Lula and amid investigations by the PF.
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) said on Friday (30/10) that he could again contest the Presidency of the Republic before 2030. The statement was made during a live broadcast on Instagram, directly from Estados Unidos. It should be remembered that general elections in Brazil are held every four years, and the country will not elect a new president until 2030.
Defeated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the second round of the elections on 25/10, the parliamentarian made the statement during the live. Flávio left Brazil on Tuesday (27/10), crossed the border with Argentina through Foz do Iguaçu (PR) and boarded a private jet to Miami, in the Estados Unidos, where he arrived on Wednesday (28/10).

“Whatever happens, I’ll be here. Ready, even if necessary, to dispute the Presidency of the Republic again,” said the senator. The statement occurred during a live broadcast on social media.
The senator then stressed that he was not necessarily referring to the next regular presidential election. “I’m not talking about 2030, no. I'm talking about before that. So, people, we will continue to be united, doing our part,” he added.

Cassation strategy of the winning plate
The declaration comes amid the strategy announced by Flávio himself to seek the cassation of the plate formed by Lula and Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB). A possible decision in this direction could lead to the holding of a new presidential election before the regular calendar.
Flavio lost the second round of the presidential election to Lula, who was re-elected with 51.79% of the valid votes, against 48.21% of the candidate of the PL. The difference between the two was 4.4 million votes.
Investigations and travel abroad
The trip took place despite an order from Alexandre de Moraes (STF) that ordered the delivery of passports and prohibited him from leaving the country. The PF investigates the non-compliance with the measure and investigates suspicions of money laundering and currency evasion involving the senator, lawyer Willer Tomaz and businesses linked to betting platforms.

Flávio reported that the decision to leave the country was made after a conversation with his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and his wife, Fernanda Bolsonaro. “So I looked at his face and said, ‘Dad, the persecution started, even a little earlier than I thought it would start, because everyone knows that Brazil today lives under an exceptional regime.’”
