Parents of students who participate in the 18th JEEM (Jogos Estudantis of the Municipal Schools) sought the Portal BnT Online on Saturday (24) to denounce the conditions of the Oscar Pereira Gymnasium, in Ponta Grossa. According to reports, drip and problems on the floor leave the court slippery during rainy days, causing falls of children participating in competitions.

Images sent to the report show the situation faced by the students and the teams that work on site. According to the parents, even with the efforts of professionals to remove the accumulated water on the court, the falls continue to happen, generating concern for the safety of the participants.

One of the parents, who was in the gym to watch a basketball match of his son, reported moments of apprehension in the face of the conditions encountered. According to him, employees used wheels to try to dry the floor, but the presence of water made it difficult to carry out the activities safely.

The man said he witnessed several falls of children during the games and showed concern about the possibility of more serious accidents, such as arm and leg fractures or head injuries.

Parents highlight SAMU attendance during competitions

Despite the complaints about the structure of the Oscar Pereira Gymnasium, the parents made a point of praising the work of the professionals of the Emergency Mobile Service (SAMU), who provide assistance during the competitions.

According to reports, relief teams have been quickly caring for children who suffer falls, checking for possible injuries and assessing the need for other care.

One of the officials stressed that the first responders showed constant attention to the students, especially given the number of accidents reported during sports activities.

The concern of the relatives is mainly related to the possibility of a fall resulting in a more serious injury, compromising the health and safety of the children.

To date, there is no confirmation about the exact number of students attended or about the occurrence of serious injuries related to the conditions of the court.

JEEM brings together more than 2,200 students in Ponta Grossa

The 18th edition of the Jogos Estudantis Municipal Schools takes place between October 17 and 30, 2026, bringing together approximately 2,230 students from 77 Ponta Grossa educational institutions.

The competitions involve 12 sports and are held in different areas of the municipality, including the Oscar Pereira Gymnasium, the Ginásio Jamal Farjallah Bazzi, the Zukão, the Arena Multiuso and the athletic track of the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG).

The event promotes sports practice, integration among students and participation of municipal schools in competitive activities.

However, the problems reported at the Oscar Pereira Gym raise questions about the conditions offered to students during the disputes, especially on rainy days.

Families charge for measures to prevent more serious accidents

Parents who have contacted Portal BnT Online ask those responsible for maintaining the space to take steps to ensure the safety of children.

Among the main concerns are the drip, the accumulation of water on the floor and the risk of new slips during the matches.

Family members also advocate an assessment of the conditions of the court, considering that the programming of the Jogos Estudantis continues until October 30.

The concern is that without a solution to the problems pointed out, other students may suffer falls and injuries during competitions.

The report highlights that the information about the accidents was forwarded by the participants’ families and that the number of care needs to be officially confirmed.

The Portal BnT Online maintains open space for demonstration of the Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa and the Municipal Secretariat of Sports on the conditions of the Oscar Pereira Gymnasium and the provisions related to the safety of students.
