A pregnant woman has been waiting for childbirth in Ponta Grossa for approximately 13 hours, according to a complaint sent by relatives to the Portal BnT Online on Saturday (24). Thalys de Lima, 28, is in the ninth month of gestation and remains in the Hospital Universitário Materno Infantil (HUMAI), known as Hospital da Criança or Hospitalzinho, after reporting the rupture of the amniotic bag and severe pains. The family says that they were informed about the lack of vacancies for the delivery or transfer of the patient.

According to family members, the pregnant woman’s bag broke shortly after midnight. Since then, she has been waiting for a definition of the birth of the baby, while facing contractions and pains that, according to her report, increase in intensity.

The situation led relatives to seek the report of the BnT Online to ask for help and report concern about the state of health of the mother and child.

Pregnant woman reports delay and difficulties to reach the hospital

In a message sent, Thalys said that, after noticing the rupture of the bag, he tried to get transport to receive medical attention. According to her, due to the unavailability of an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) at that time, she decided to go to the hospital using a car per application.

The patient says she has been in the unit since dawn and is receiving medication to prevent possible infections, according to the guidance she received from the team responsible for the care.

According to the pregnant woman, the professionals carry out periodic evaluations to check the heartbeat of the baby and monitor its clinical conditions.

Despite the monitoring, the delay and the absence of a forecast for childbirth have caused concern to the family.

Family says hospital reported lack of vacancies

According to the reports sent to Portal BnT Online, the husband and other relatives sought the hospital staff several times in search of clarification about the situation.

According to the family, the justification presented would be the unavailability of vacancies for the performance of the procedure or for referral to another health unit.

The pregnant woman says she was informed that she would need to continue waiting in the hospital, since a transfer would not be available at that time.

The relatives show concern with the time elapsed since the rupture of the bag and with the intensity of the contractions reported by the patient.

At the time of the report, there was no confirmation about a forecast of delivery, nor official clarification about the availability of beds or the need for a caesarean section.

The situation mobilizes families in Ponta Grossa

The case occurs in the Hospital Universitário Maternal Infantil, a unit linked to the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG), located in the Estrela neighborhood. The hospital is known by the population as Hospitalzinho and provides care in the maternal-infantile and obstetrical areas.

The delay reported by the family draws attention to the importance of medical follow-up and individualized evaluation of each pregnant woman, especially when there is rupture of the amniotic sac and the presence of contractions.

The definition of the need for cesarean section, vaginal delivery or transfer depends on obstetric evaluation, considering the clinical conditions of the mother and the baby. The rupture of the bag, in isolation, does not determine the realization of an emergency caesarean section.

Family awaits a solution

Facing the situation, family members sought the BnT Online to give visibility to the case and request action.

The main concern is that the pregnant woman receives the necessary assistance and that there is a safe medical definition for the birth of the child.

The case depends on official clarifications from the hospital about the patient's situation, the availability of care and the procedures adopted.

The Portal BnT Online accompanies the report and may update the information as new details about the care and health status of the mother and baby are confirmed.
