After becoming paraplegic, resident of Ponta Grossa appeals for a wheelchair
Dayane Michele Ziothowski seeks to raise R$ 10,000 to gain more autonomy and quality of life; husband also suffered an accident and is away from activities

A resident of Ponta Grossa, in the Campos Gerais do Paraná, is mobilizing the solidarity of the population to get a motorized wheelchair. Dayane Michele Ziothowski, who became paraplegic after suffering an accident in 2023, created an online cow with the goal of raising R$ 10,000 to acquire the equipment and have more independence in the day-to-day activities.
According to the report published on the Vakinha platform, Dayane’s life changed completely after the accident. Since then, she has had difficulty locomoting and has had to adapt to a new routine. The motorized chair represents, for her, the possibility of regaining part of her autonomy and performing everyday tasks with less difficulty.
Third attempt at collection
This is not the first time that Dayane seeks help to purchase the equipment. As reported, two other fundraising campaigns were carried out, but none managed to reach even 1% of the amount needed. The family also tried to organize raffles to raise funds, but did not get the expected result.

Financial difficulties prevented the money raised from being reserved for the purchase of the chair, as the basic needs of the family needed to be prioritized.
Husband also suffered an accident
The family's financial situation became even more delicate after Dayane's husband suffered an accident and broke his leg. According to the resident, he is away from his activities, which makes it even more difficult to buy the motorized wheelchair with its own resources.

In his appeal, Dayane explains that the equipment does not represent a luxury, but a need to improve their mobility conditions. “I’m not asking for luxury. I’m asking for something that can transform my routine and give me a little more independence,” she wrote in the campaign.
