The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. and the community is invited; in addition to the initially planned improvements, the city of Castro invested an additional R$ 100,000 in complementary services.

The City of Castro inaugurates this Thursday (29), at 2 pm, the reform of the Douglas Pereira Gymnasium, which is in Rua Doutor Jorge Xavier da Silva, in the Center. The community is invited to participate in the ceremony of delivery of the revitalized space, which will receive sports activities with improvements in structure and surroundings.
Started in March, the work was completed this October and included internal and external painting services, channel exchange, structural adaptations and reconstruction of the sidewalks, which received improvements to offer more safety and accessibility to pedestrians.
The investment initially planned was R$ 243,500, with own resources of the Municipality. In addition to this amount, the City Council allocated an additional R$ 100,000 for the execution of complementary improvements, including the paving of the parking lot located behind the gym.
“With the additional services, the space received interventions that go beyond internal revitalization, providing better conditions of use for athletes, sports teams and the entire community that attends the site,” stresses the Secretary of Sport, Cristiano Meira.
The renovated gym will also be one of the stages of the 39th Jogos Estudantis of Castro (JECA) and of the 8th Jogos Paradesportivos of Castro (JEPCA), guaranteeing excellent conditions for the realization of the competitions and for the participation of the students in the sports activities of the municipality. The delivery marks the completion of the works and the availability of the revitalized structure for the community and for the sports calendar of Castro.
