Wait list for INSS forensic examination is eliminated in August

The Minister of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz, announced on Thursday that the queue of attendance of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) has been closed. The mark was hit last month. The announcement was made at the Palácio do Planalto, in the presence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

According to the ministry, from February to August, the number of requests for expertise awaiting attendance was gradually falling. In February, there were 3.12 million people in line, while 1.17 million people opened new orders that month. The number of people in line dropped to 1.547 million in July. In August, the number of new orders exceeded the number of people in line.

“When that happens, we don’t have a queue. We have a flow of care. There is no longer a queue for attendance. We are in a similar situation to a store that has 12 sellers and 8 customers enter. We are free in the service no matter what the demand is,” explained Queiroz.

The Ministry of Social Security clarified that the causes of the greater flow in care and in the reduction in waiting for the result of the expertise are the appointment of new servers by public tender, by the 865 agencies operating with telemedicine resources and the adoption of documentary medical expertise. In this type of expertise, it is not necessary for the person to go to an agency of the INSS, only the sending of documentary evidence.

The ministry also attributes the numbers reached to the adoption of mutineers on weekends and the payment of bonuses to servers with tasks completed above their goals.

“This benefit management plan was responsible for, in 2026 alone, 2 million more visits,” the minister said.

INSS currently receives about 1.3 million requests per month. That's 43,000 requests a day. “It’s this giant that we’re dealing with,” Wolney Queiroz said.

“What we want is to humanize the line. It is the person who has the right time to enter, wait and receive his benefit,” said President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

In addition to the reduction of the queue, there was a reduction in the waiting time for a decision regarding the expertise. The time frame defined by law for a decision is 45 days, and the average time reached by the institute is 34 days.

However, there is still, according to Minister Wolney Queiroz and the executive secretary of the portfolio, Felipe Cavalcante, a group of 224,000 people awaiting the result of forensics for a period longer than 45 days.

These are specific cases and special requests, the minister and the secretary stressed.

These include continuing benefits (PCBs) and retirement.
