The Blessing of the Animals in Ponta Grossa will be held this Saturday (10), in front of the Immaculate Conception Church, in Av. Carlos Cavalcanti, 361, in Uvaranas. The program takes place from 9 am to 5 pm, without break, and will be open to the community, which can bring animals of different species to receive the traditional Franciscan Blessing.
The celebration will be conducted by friars and deacons and integrates the activities of the Franciscan Jubilee Year. The initiative is inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi, known for his relationship of respect, care and closeness to animals and nature.
Throughout the care period, guardians will be able to arrive at the site with their pets to participate in the blessing. The organization emphasizes that the program includes different species and intends to bring together families of Ponta Grossa in a moment of faith, care and appreciation of the animals that are part of the daily lives of people.
Franciscan tradition
The Blessing of the Animals also reinforces a tradition linked to the figure of St. Francis of Assisi. The celebration recalls the importance of responsible care for animals and the preservation of all creation.
According to the organization, the blessing represents a request for protection, saúde e bem-estar to animals. During the program, a special prayer will be held by the participants.
“O God, grant that these animals may be healthy, that they may be well cared for by us, and that, through the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi, we may remember to praise God for all creation. Amen.”
Photos and distribution of seedlings
In addition to the blessing, the space in front of the Immaculate Conception Church will have a panel specially prepared for tutors to take photographs with their animals and register participation in the event.
There will also be distribution of plant seedlings to participants. The action seeks to reinforce the Franciscan message of respect for nature and creation.
The program will be held continuously, from 9 am to 5 pm, facilitating the participation of residents who wish to attend at different times during Saturday.
