Castro delivers new vehicles and reinforces public security

The City of Castro, in the Campos Gerais do Paraná, on Wednesday (21) delivered two new 4x4 trucks to the Municipal Guard, completing the renovation of the Castro Segura program fleet. The vehicles represent an investment of more than R$ 600,000 and will be used to reinforce urban and rural patrol. Since the beginning of the current management, the municipal investments in public security already exceed R$ 4 million.

The new pickup trucks are part of a modernization package that included the acquisition of five Renault Dusters, four Suzuki 350 motorcycles and a van adapted to function as a mobile base. With the delivery, the total investment in the renewal and expansion of the fleet reaches R$ 2.36 million, costed with own resources of the municipality.

One of the vans will be used for urban patrol, while the other will serve the Rural Guard, expanding the ability to move the teams through the inland communities.

New vehicles increase safety in Castro

During the delivery, the mayor Reinaldo Cardoso stressed that the acquisition of the vehicles represents the completion of an important step of modernization of the Municipal Guard.

“We are here today completing the delivery of the vehicles purchased for our safety. There are two new vans, 4x4, one for the urban perimeter and another for the Rural Guard. With this, we finished our project to equip with new vehicles and give all the conditions to our Municipal Guard, so that they can continue their work, which is already very good, improving even more because of the investments made," he said.

The municipal secretary of Public Security, Fábio Pinheiro, stressed that the vans will also be used in traffic control operations and activities.

"Today, another important step is taken in the Public Security of Castro. We are delivering the two vans that were missing from the largest package of investments in the Public Security of Castro. These trucks reinforce the police both in the city and in the rural area, in the part of traffic control and operations, bringing a greater sense of security to our population," he said.

The Municipal Secretary of Government, Ricardo Cardoso Filho, emphasized the importance of new vehicles for the care of rural communities, especially in regions where road conditions require more robust vehicles.

Castro Segura has already received more than R$ 4 million in investments

In addition to the renewal of the fleet, the Castro Segura program contemplates a series of improvements aimed at structuring and strengthening the security forces.

Since the beginning of management, the municipality has invested more than R$ 4 million in public safety, including professional training, shooting training, traffic instructions, acquisition of uniforms and lethal and non-lethal equipment.

Currently, the Municipal Guard of Castro has 36 members, of which 18 are new hires. The expansion of the workforce seeks to increase the presence of agents on the streets and improve the care of the population.

Another important investment is the video monitoring system Muralha Digital, which has 53 cameras installed at entrances, exits and strategic points of the city. The technology assists in monitoring and monitoring suspicious vehicles and movements.

Theft and threats are reduced in Castro

Investments in public safety occur amid the reduction of certain criminal indicators in the municipality.

According to data from the Military Police presented in the balance sheet of the Castro Segura program, between January and July 2026, Castro recorded an 18% drop in thefts and 26% in threat occurrences, compared to the same period in 2025.

Homicide records have also declined in recent years. Check out the numbers released:

2023: 13 homicides;

2024: 8 homicides;

2025: 6 homicides;

2026: 2 homicides registered by August.

The indicators indicate a tendency to reduce these crimes, although it is not possible to attribute the results exclusively to the investments made by the programme.

Integration between police forces extends security actions

Castro Segura brings together efforts of the Municipal Guard, Military Police, Civil Police, Municipal Secretariat of Public Security and Penitentiary Department.

The proposal is to strengthen the integrated work between institutions, expand preventive actions and improve the capacity to respond to occurrences both in the urban area and in rural communities.

With the completion of the renewal of the fleet, the City of Castro closes one of the main stages of modernization of the operational structure of the Municipal Guard, with the expectation of providing better working conditions to the agents and expanding the safety of the population.
