The Feira Mais program will have a new round of attendance in the interior of Castro on October 28 and 29, Wednesday and Thursday. The initiative, which encourages recycling and contributes to the food security of families, will pass through seven localities of the municipality, offering the opportunity to exchange recyclable materials for food.
On Wednesday (28), the attendances will take place in the communities of Cercado, Butiazal and Socavão. Already on Thursday (29), the program will be in the localities of ITCF, Settlement Three Lagoas, Abapã and Herval do Xaxim.
To participate, residents must deliver clean and dry recyclable materials. Those who carry more than 10 kilos of recyclable waste receive a kit with varied foods, produced by family farmers of the municipality.
The initiative also seeks to raise public awareness of the importance of proper waste separation. Materials such as bathroom and kitchen trash, foam, rubber, leather, lamps and packaging with aluminum in the internal composition, including coffee packages, cookies and snacks are not accepted.
Feira Mais has benefited more than 4,500 people in 2026
The results of the program demonstrate the importance of the initiative for the communities of Castro. In 2026 alone, the Feira Mais collected 88.4 tons of recyclable materials, distributed 45.6 tons of food, and benefited 4,551 people.
In addition to contributing to environmental preservation and reducing inadequate waste disposal, the program strengthens family farming, values rural producers and expands the population’s access to food.

Thursday (October 29)
ITCF – 9h, in front of the health post;
Settlement Three Lagoons – 10 am, in front of the house of Perlim;
Abapã – 11h, in front of the association;
Herval do Xaxim – 13:30, in front of the church.
The guidance is that participants organize the recyclable materials in advance, ensuring that they are clean and dry to facilitate the collection and utilization of waste.
