Nikolas claims video with criticism against Lula was silenced

The deputy Nikolas Ferreira accused singer Rubel of requesting the removal of an audio from a video with criticism from Nordestinos against Lula. Meta informed that the unavailability occurred due to copyright. Nikolas continues demanding the release of the audio.

The federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) said on Monday (19), that a video with testimonies of Nordestinos criticizing the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) had the audio removed on Instagram. According to the MP, the publication was “silent” after a request for copyright on the music used in the recording. Meta, the parent company of the social network, confirmed the unavailability of the sound, but denied political motivation.

In a note sent to Gazeta do Povo, the big tech clarified that “the audio of the publication was unavailable due to a request for copyright on the music used”. The company did not detail who made the request. Nikolas, in turn, attributed the action to the singer Rubel, author of the song used in the video.

Accusation against the singer Rubel

On social media, the MP claimed that the record company Sony was triggered by the artist to knock down the sound. “Sony was triggered by Rubel to knock down the sound. Nobody else asked, only him. Not a producer, not anyone else. The coward thought no one was going to find out he was the one who asked in silence. In the end, a petista silenced the voices of the Northeasters. Nothing more symbolic,” he said.

It is not possible to verify who made the request to make the audio unavailable or if the measurement started from the recorder's own system. Nikolas continues to charge Rubel on social media to reactivate the audio of the recording.

Member of Parliament charges release of audio

In another publication, the parliamentarian made a direct appeal to the singer. If Rubel has the minimum of decency, there is still time to ask the producer to release the audio. It is never too late to redo a cowardice against the voice of millions of Northeasterners,” he said.

Nikolas reinforced the accusation in a third post: “They silenced the voice of simple people, who only wanted Brazil to hear their voice. Rubel continues to not let the audio be released.” The report did not reach the singer’s advisory until publication.

Mobilization of supporters and black screen

Supporters of the presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) were mobilized on the channel “Tropa do Flávio” to charge the artist on social networks. A publication in which Rubel appears making the gesture of the letter L, in support of Lula, was shared in the group.

Followers of the lawmaker earlier claimed that the post was blacked out by being shared in the stories, Instagram’s tool that keeps the post on the air for 24 hours. Usually, the platform displays a snippet of the republished video.

Electoral background and decision of TSE

Nikolas made reference to an action brought by Lula who accuses Meta of alleged interference in the distribution of the content of the petista campaign on social networks. On Monday (19), the minister of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) Marco Aurélio Bellizze gave 24 hours for the big tech to prove that it complied with a determination to ensure equal treatment between the presidential candidacies of Lula and Flavio.

The rapporteur warned that the daily fine can go from R$ 500,000 to R$ 1 million, in case of non-compliance. On Friday (16), the company admitted to the occurrence of one-off technical failures that temporarily affected publications of the petista campaign, but denied that it was interfering in the elections.

Testimonials from Nordestinos

The video in question brings reports of residents of the Northeast region. In one of the excerpts, a woman states: “I am from the Northeast, I was born in Mundo Novo and I live here in Bahia. I spent my whole life hearing Lula say that our life was going to change. I've aged."

Another witness reports financial difficulties: “I am retired, I buy medicine, I do cancer treatment and a minimum wage is not good for anything. “The government is taking a discount on my retirement.”

The case continues to resonate on social networks, with supporters of the deputy charging a position of the singer Rubel. The Meta did not say whether the audio could be restored. The Boca no Trombone Portal will continue to monitor the deployment.
