Teenager arrested after stealing an elderly woman's bag on a street in Castro

A teenager was seized by the military police on Sunday night, just hours after a robbery against a 67-year-old woman in Castro. The initial occurrence was recorded at about 17:36, in Jerônimo Cabral Pereira do Amaral Street.

According to the victim’s account, she was walking down the street when she was approached by an individual with her face covered, who announced the robbery and pulled her purse. With the action, the woman fell to the ground, suffering injuries. She was referred by the SAMU to the UPA, received medical attention and was subsequently released. Personal documents, bank cards, a mobile phone and other belongings were taken.

After the robbery, military police teams searched the area in an attempt to locate the person responsible. The proceedings continued until the adolescent was located in a residence in the municipality. During the approach, he reported involvement in the theft.

The adolescent was apprehended and led, accompanied by his mother, to the appropriate arrangements.
