Fugitive accused of homicide in Imbituva arrested on Santa Catarina's coast

A man on the run for murder in Imbituva was located and arrested by the Military Police of Santa Catarina on Wednesday night (9), in Balneário Piçarras, on the coast of Santa Catarina. The man is suspected of involvement in the death of Renan Ferreira de Ávila, which occurred in July of this year in the municipality of the Central-South region of Paraná.

According to information passed on by police officer Marcos Andrade, investigations conducted by the Civil Police of Imbituva pointed to elements related to the possible authorship of the crime. Based on the information gathered during the investigation, the police authority requested the Judiciary of the Imbituva District to issue an arrest warrant against the investigator.

With the court order issued, the security forces began to carry out diligences to locate the suspect.

Suspect was on the Catarinense coast

During the research work, it was identified that the man was hiding in the coast of Santa Catarina. The information was shared with the Santa Catarina security forces.

The suspect was eventually located in Rua dos Cedros, in the Nossa Senhora neighborhood of Fatima, in Balneário Piçarras. He was approached by police teams and had the arrest warrant fulfilled.

The case involving the fugitive for murder in Imbituva remains under the responsibility of the Justice.

According to the information passed on about the investigation, the case should be followed later for trial by the Imbituva District Jury Court.

Remember the murder in Imbituva

The crime took place in the early morning of July 26, 2026, in front of a commercial establishment in Imbituva.

According to the information found in the investigation, Renan Ferreira de Ávila allegedly engaged in a discussion with the suspect. During the disagreement, the victim was reportedly hit by several knife strokes.

After the attack, Renan was rescued and referred to the Imbituva Municipal Emergency Room. Despite the care, he did not resist the injuries and died when entering the health unit.

The Civil Police have started investigations to clarify the circumstances of the crime and identify the people involved. The investigative work resulted in the identification of the suspect and the request for arrest subsequently authorized by the Justice.

With the location of the investigated in Balneário Piçarras, the warrant was fulfilled and the man placed at the disposal of the Judiciary. The progress of the process and possible criminal liability will depend on the analysis of the Justice.
